What general type of distress does Andrea have here and what type of general reaction has she chosen? Support your answer. Just like many American's in this day and age with the world‘s economy and structure changing everyone is having to adapt to the new direction the economy is going. In Andrea’s case she has to practice emotional distress based upon the mental pressures of the oil circumstances in the Middle East that also influence her job. According to the reading Andrea’s issues with work are not only causes her mental distress it’s also causing her to have an anxiety disorder. For example; if the oil export slows down because of the terrorists then that could cause the ships that deliver the company’s products not to arrive, and this may lead her to produce no money. Even though it’s not easy, in the end of Andrea's emotions have caused Andrea to respond to her circumstances in a way that is self-prophesy which is avoidance. In other words, she has chosen a response referred to the name, “syntoxic way or flight response”, which she states, "I'll quit. No, I will threaten to quit. Right! No! I'll tell them I can't do it." She goes on to say, "I'll quit or scream or both"(Drafke, 2006). Unit 6: 14.2: Stress and the Salesperson 2. What are the two causes of her distress? Support your answer. The two causes of Andrea’s distress is that of having insecurities regarding her job responsibility, future, and working condition. Andrea is also specifically worrying about the oil production in the Middle East and terrorism that we are fighting against. She is also worried about how they will affect the shipments of products
