Liliana Heker’s “The Stolen Party”, is a short story about a girl named Rosaura. The main focus about this short story is the barriers of low class people in a society. The author writes this story through the aspect of a maid’s daughter Rosaura, who goes to a party of her rich friend Lusiana and where they uses her as a servant rather than a friend of Lusiana. As the story starts to develop also the problem starts to buildup without the main protagonist Rosaura not realizing them. During the birthday party Luciana’s mother Senora Ines had been told Rosaura to do all the works such as: serve the cake, and hot dogs to the guests at the party. She loved the tasks that Senora Ins gives her without comprehending that she is using her to do all the works. The class difference between the little girl Rosaura is shown through the indication of a magician’s monkey at the party, which was a surprise to the guests. Somehow Rosaura got to see the monkey ahead of time. Which indicate us the fact that Rosaura is separated from the rest of the guests at the party because she is not as prosperous as others and she is the daughter of the maid. Rosaura fail to understand the truth at beginning of the story to throughout the party. Rosaura finally realizes the truth by Senora Ins at the end of the party by giving her two bills and insisting her as her pet. Rosaura’s happiness was shattered and heart broken by the harsh words by Senora Ins. As a result she realized that she do not have the courage to break into the classes of low into high.
