Same sex couples form relationships that are more stable than many regular couple. One of the disadvantage children of same-sex couples may face is the traditional Christian value. If same-sex couples are capable of providing this love to a child, there is no greater reason that should not allow same-sex couples to adopt children. This paper discuss about how we should legalize adoption right for same-sex couples. Adoption Rights Equality for Same-Sex Couples In this day and age, gay rights are slowly but surely gaining acceptance in today’s society.
She takes on the most undefended issue persisting in today’s society, the same-sex marriages. She focused on the problems faced by the gay couples. The gay couples can’t support each other when hospitalized, can’t fill taxes jointly, and face social problems bring up children. The definition of marriage is defined as social union of two people, then why do we don’t let it happen. Gay couples should be able to have every right that heterosexual couples has in the community.
The government and charities spend huge amounts of money on the child welfare system. So, if homosexuals are given the right to adopt a child, it would not only benefit the child but also the community. He is right by reminding us that it is far better for a child to be raised by a mother and a father but he neglects that homosexuals can raise a child, too. A child is taught to say “mom” or “dad”, he or she is not automatically born with the ability to say that. Therefore, between two male homosexuals, there can be a father and a mother.
She is an outstanding citizen in this society. I think she would be a terrific parent, and I resent those who think she is a “bad” person just because she is a lesbian. Many children born into traditional marriages would be far better off being raised by someone like her than by a heterosexual couple in a dysfunctional marriage, but that’s just my opinion. I can understand that many people prefer that gay unions be called something else besides “marriage”, but I don’t have a preference on that matter. Sometimes I wonder what all the hate against gay marriage is all about.
How would you feel if someone randomly approached to you and tell you “you’re gay”? Yes, you, like me or everyone else in this classroom, would definitely be angry and baffled because you take that comment as condescending. It generally means stupid or weird, but as you all may know, the word “gay” stands up for something else as well – a homosexual person. Homosexuality, (or bisexuality inclusive), has been the key word for ethical, religious, social, or any kinds of debate in the United States in the recent years. Despite such rapid development of human beings and extensive globalization, our view towards people who are different from us still remains narrow and conservative.
However, the debate still rages throughout the world on the legitimacy of gay marriage, particularly in the United States of America where there is a large conservative and religiously fundamental community. In his essay, “For Gay Marriage,” Andrew Sullivan believes that marriage is a “public contract between...two people,” (266) no matter what each person’s sexual orientation happens to be. He considers legalizing gay marriage a step towards equality among all people. Conversely, William J. Bennett, in “Against Gay Marriage”, argues that sanctioning gay marriage would harm the tradition of marriage, and bring chaos to humanity. This essay will attempt to establish that, compared to Bennett, Sullivan provides the reader with the more complete and sincere argument backed with valid assumptions and an effective use of literary devices.
As more people “came out of the closet” gays and lesbians are becoming more socially accepted. They currently are battling for equality in a variety of areas. Even though the number of children adoptions would increase, No, gay and lesbians couples should not be allowed to adopt kids. It has been research and it’s said that it confuses children about gender roles and expectations of society. The gay and lesbians lifestyle is not something to be encouraged, as a lot of research shows it leads to a much lower life expectancy, psychological disorders, and other problems.
Legalizing gay marriage will create role models for young gay people, who experience the struggle of “coming out of the closet.” This could also heal the gay-straight rift more than anything. “So long as intelligent people understand that homosexuals are emotionally and sexually attracted to the same sex as the heterosexuals are to the other sex, then there is no human reason on earth why it should be granted to one group and not to the other,” (Sullivan, page 407) said
The article also suggested that teens also listened to the information better when it came from their parents rather than school, or other outside sources. Sex and Teens: Why Abstinence Isn’t Working from Oprah Magazine stated that a growing number of studies is proving that school abstinence programs have little impact on adolescent sexual behavior. Worse, new research suggests they could even be endangering kids by failing to
The issue of same-sex marriage has been debated for a very long time. Whether we will ever reach a middle ground in which both sides can live happily is uncertain. The arguments against same-sex marriage can be seen as unreasonable and bias since much of it is not entirely true. A major argument for the opposition of same-sex marriage is that homosexual marriage negatively affects children and result in many issues children of heterosexual parents do not usually experience. Toni Meyer and Jocelyn Floyd both argue against same-sex marriage relying heavily on the fact that it will harm children today, but does same-sex marriage actually impact our society and more importantly children by doing more harm than good?
