In 1970-2000, there were significant changes in family life such as marriage rate fell by 40%, divorce rates doubled, cohabitation increased but 52% of them split up after having a child. Under these circumstances, child being abandoned or living without parenting increased rapidly. Gradually, broken families became broken society. According to the Britain and American research, children of separated families or been abandon are twice as likely to have behavior problems such as performing less well at schools, smoking, turn to drugs , do heavy drinking, relying in gun justice. In reviewing research from Martin Beckford, Social Affairs Correspondent with The Telegraph, I learned quite a lot of interesting information pertaining to the emotional problems children raised by single parents face. Research says that children from broken homes are five times more likely to develop emotional problems than those living with both parents. This could be true, due to the fact that parentless children, seem to act out more, when one or both parents are missing. The Office of National Statistics, interviewed parents, teachers, and children themselves, and found that many suffer from emotional problems such as depression, anxiety and aggression.
The alarming statistics that relate to youth violence are alarming and over whelming. Upon review of a study about youth violence, The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that in 2007, 5764 young people aged 10-24 were murdered, that’s an average of 16 each day (CDC2010). With that said murder is the second leading cause of death for that age group. Other less severe crimes, but still inexcusable are also on the rise. Assaults committed by young people ages 10-24 were responsible for more than 656,000 injuries treated in an emergency room (CDC2010).
Shortly after being married Karen gave birth to her first daughter. Shortly following the birth of Karen’s new daughter, however, was the death of her beloved mother. Karen, later in life had and additional two daughters in whom she loved and cherished very much. Karen, however, still found some depression lingering in her life. Karen leaned to one of her favorite parts of life, her studies.

Many of us don’t realize that men are abused equally as much as women because hear only about women who are physically abused. Other forms of abuse include mental/emotional, economical, sexual, verbal, and isolation. Statistics show that there is some form of domestic abuse or domestic violence occurring in one out of two marriages or partnerships and about 90% of children are in a nearby room causing them to suffer from emotional and or behavioral problems. Studies show this causes the cycle of domestic violence to continue throughout their adult lives.
Violence against children it doesn’t happens only in America it happens everywhere, in every country and society and across all social groups, but America is the highest in violence against children. When we talk about violence is not always about killing. In some cases violence occur by parents especially mothers that don’t want their children. They throw them away, some parents leave their children with their families but never return, in others cases they have been sold or given away by their parents. Children are most frequently sexually abused by someone they know, often a member of their own family.

Poverty can affect every area of a child's social, educational and personal development. Children growing up in homes where their parents have to decide whether the can by food or heating for the home. Child poverty is not only a serious issue but a growing epidemic every year.
