Prior to reviewing the article, my sense of wellness was that it was an active process, such as exercising or praying, to become more aware of one self in order to make better choices toward a more successful existence of life. Meyers and Sweeney view wellness as a way of life in which the mind, body, and spirit are all integrated by the individual to live life more fully and within a natural community. They use the models such as the Wheel of Wellness and the Indivisible Self to illustrate how wellness provides a more conceptualized way for the counselor to create an environment that encourages wellness, a positive state of well-being, and a wellness-enhancing intervention. The Wheel of Wellness was one of the first models depicting wellness in the counseling field. The initial Wheel of Wellness sought to identify the correlation between health, the quality of life, and longetivity.

Teaching Cadets the importance of trust, obedience, and respect creates positive additions to society. Character is gained through the multiple lessons taught by the instructors, community service, and the Chain of Command. The self-discovering lessons, ambition to correct ones’ flaws and the urge to maintain acceptable habits, develops/strengthens character. Community service is a humbling experience.
