But then he questions this argument in that even the smallest insect has an interest in its own life, but you do not see people actively opposing the killing of all living creatures. He also questions the statement that animals can even make this assertion and are not just living out of basic instinct. After killing a living animal we both experienced a strange sense of guilt and shame. While we were aware of our intentions to murder an innocent animal, we felt the remorseful and somewhat regretful after the deed was done. Prior to this experience I realize that I do not have the hunting mentality as Bass does. He knows he is aware that he is a predator and lives to hunt and eat the meat of his prey, just as a natural predator does. However there is a flaw to this argument. The assumption that eating meat is a “gastrointestinal preference” assumes a first-world setting with individuals whose diets can be dictated by choice rather than practicality or affordability. They say ever since she has wanted healthier food in schools they started serving foods that do not look edible and gross. Many programs are trying to make healthier school lunches because it is the main cause for child obesity. The school lunches are super unhealthy for the kids because they have a lot of sodium, fat, and sugar. Schools should cut down on all the sweets they give the children also because that cause a lot of health problems. One of the main things schools need to do is to stop adding so much salt on to the meals because salt is super unhealthy.
This is causing kids to throw out food, that they are not getting enough of to begin with, but because of the flavor the kids would rather not eat at all then to eat food that is very bland. The feeding of a breed of an animal to another of the same breed is not uncommon as well. These practices can hardly be considered just or appropriate. Many of these animals die long before they are ever old enough or big enough to be used as food. It would make more sense to breed fewer animals, which therefore would allow for them to live in a healthier environment, eat correctly, and then live on serving their purpose. By the Replacability Argument, by killing these non self-conscious beings, that had been living good lives, we are lessening the amount of good in the world.
