Williams, Lynae Boone Period: 7 1/7/12 The Reality of Life In reality, how many people actually take education seriously? Personally school systems from my perspective are not at the best they can be. The concern of all students and the education they receive seems to be very low. The law “No students left behind”, needs to be enforced more than it has been previously and as it is being enforced today. The film Waiting For Superman addressed the fact that a lot of students do not have the opportunity to get a good education, so there for students are being left behind.
This is why teaching financial literacy in high school will benefit the students later in their life. Secondly, the people who lack the financial literacy skills do not tend to save or plan for their future retirement. This is because they do not know how to make a financial plan, so they cannot plan their retirement and they have to depend on government pension because they are not self-reliant. Because of the lack of knowledge they do not save money and even if they save they do not know how to invest the money wisely. So
Options like going without a book are not sufficient, because no amount of note taking can accurately replace in class learning with the book. Students also attempt to wait until financial aid is available; this generally puts students behind schedule, which is not how to start the semester. These students start out the year missing assignments. Some students have to depend on their parents to help them get books. This is not a solution either, due to the country already struggling in a financial depression.
Our education system has not improved with the times. The world has caught up and the US has yet to realize that long-term investment in schools and teachers is the best pay off for a worker and the country. Now the jobs are left with are the upper class people who are "symbolic analysts" using "mathematical algorithms, legal arguments, financial gimmicks, scientific principals, psychological insights," and other tools that usually come with a college or graduate degree. Then we have our lower-class comprised of low-level service jobs like waitressing, house-cleaning, security guards etc. Decreased social mobility is hard on the lower class because without being able to move forward, they are stuck in a cycle of poverty.
Remote Indigenous Schooling Bianca Stegert- s414155 CR111- Persuasive Text (Harvard Referencing) Word Count: 900 aprox Mishal Smith Due Teaching Week 6- Semester 1, 2014 Remote Indigenous schooling has been a heavily debated topic of late. What are the effects of small schools without enough funding to properly educate students? Lack of funding in remote Indigenous schools is directly affecting the quality of learning for students. It is difficult for a full time, qualified teacher to be employed so that they can assist in consistent learning so that students can master basic subject areas. The lack of funding also means that students have inadequate access to resource that lessens their chances of learning effectively.
The main great thing about this is that it doesn’t just benefit one child; it benefits any child anywhere because they are all different and will all respond differently to certain approaches. By using the right approach for that specific child can increase their chance of learning and may also enhance their self-esteem which can be helpful in later life. • children should be given every opportunity to learn • no one has the right to do anything to them that makes them feel uncomfortable • they should be taught and encouraged not to put up with any behaviour from adults or children that makes them feel threatened • it is important to establish open and honest discussion with children and young people about all kinds of issues that will affect them while they are attending your service • it is also important that children learn to manage risk themselves. Moreover, children want to be respected, their views to be heard, to have stable relationships with professionals built on trust and for consistent support provided for their individual needs. This should guide the behaviour of professionals.
Low income will mean that parents will be unable afford educational books or tutoring in order to help the student pass. Although a criticism of his research would be that it was performed years ago and now changes to the education system have been made to counter act such material differences such as free after school study which means that students
Many of the immigrants who set out to find a better future for them and their families do so by coming to America, and in doing so should learn this nation’s language. Bilingual classes not only would make foreign students lazy to learn the language since their home language would be spoken in class and they would just neglect learning English, but it would also cost millions of dollars for Texas tax payers who break their backs working for these students to learn a language that they’ll neglect to learn. Many of the students in bilingual classes would also need special teachers who could speak both their native language and English, costing more money. Also these classes would make these students feel like outcasts among their peers in schools, who not only would look down upon the bilingual class students for not speaking English fluently, but would see them as foreign aliens walking among them. The goal is to make these students transition from their native language to English giving them linguistic and social cultural advantages and we can only do that if we don’t allow bilingual classes to be taught in Texas public schools and make English learning a priority.
One of the big problems with illegal immigrants is the fact that they might have little to no ability to speak English to communicate with anyone who might not speak the language they know. “In New York City, the school system estimates that bilingual education costs $2,000 per child annually”(Orranius 15). This shows that the schools who are already spending money for the illegals to attend the school but now they are required to hire specialized teachers to teach the remedial classes and go more over budget. This also shows that the illegals are negatively
The American dream is often defined as the good life of the United States, but how can people reach it if they are limited to just attending school from K-4 to high school? We all know that in order to succeed in life we need more than a high school diploma. Many illegal immigrants who are brought to this country as children recognize America as their own country some of them do not even speak their native language. They are so used to the American life style that is hard to integrate some of their traditions in their lives. America has been the home for numerous people and they feel the need to represent “their” country in many ways as possible.
