Anthony Socci 3 White 11/28/08 Biography: Final Draft Da’dooch Socci “A day without laughter is a day wasted” This was John Michael Socci’s favorite philosophy that he lived by on an everyday basis. My interview with his sister Jenifer Socci, was a great privilege for myself. She is very wise, a remarkable memory and the smartest woman I know. This interview turned out to be more informative than I could’ve hoped for. Da’dooch was always fond of telling stories or explaining those who have passed. I figured my Aunt would be the perfect one to explain my grandfather’s life. Twenty two questions were asked about hobbies, stories, memories or any other information of Grandpa Socci and must I say after the interview, had I known him better.…show more content…
It was in the early 50’s where he first began entwined with the mob. The mob was on a turning point in the early 50’s. Though he never took part in any mob activities, he still gathered money from family that did. He never did any mob dealings because he felt that if he ever needed to gain money or possessions, he would gain them for the benefit of others. “This is my personal favorite characteristic of him, and most likely the smartest decision he ever made in his life.” States my Aunt Jenny about the mobster deals that Da’dooch turns down. Da’dooch was always looked down as the non- experienced and feeble- minded brother in the eyes of his father. His father always wanted his sons to be great business men or baseball stars. My great Uncle Pete (Da’dooch’s brother) was a third round pick for the New York Yankees, there he played for five years. Da’dooch never became the extraordinary business man or baseball star that his father intended him to be. My cousin Nicole was born in 1986 and the reaction of my grandfather is caught on home videos. The expression of love and high emotions were brought out of him at that time. The other cousin was born soon after and after long years of somewhat depression of his children moving out and his parents dying was suddenly erased. “He seemed a much happier and loving man that I always remembered he was.” says Aunt Jenny. “The years where his grandchildren were born was really in my sense, the prime of his life.” Home videos of me as a baby and Da’dooch together are proven facts that him and I bonded well even though I was a young
