We want to improve staff and families’ knowledge and understanding of issues of anti-discriminatory practice and promoting equality and too valuing diversity. We want all children to be included in all the activities of the setting for example cultural celebrations. Discrimination: is an unfair or unequal treatment of an individual or group on the grounds of age, ability, gender, race etc. its being disadvantaged or excluded in the same situation. Different forms of discrimination can be displayed such as, Direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, institutional discrimination and harassment/victimisation. 1.2 Direct Discrimination may occur if an employee is not considered for a promotion because of age or a job is refused to a person because of their disability/mobility. Indirect Discrimination may occur when a requirement /condition is applied to all across the board and individual
EQUALITY: Means treating people in a way that is appropriate for their needs. INCLUSION: Educational Inclusion is about equal opportunity for everybody, whatever their age, gender, ethnic, attainment and background. DISCRIMINATION: Is the prejudicial treatment of individual based on their membership in a certain group or category. 1:2... Describe the ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting.
There are many ways in which direct discrimination may occur in social care setting for example; different levels of pay for the same job, bullying or excluding an individual whether it be from group activates or from training and job opportunities because of race, gender or religion etc. There are also many ways in which indirect discrimination may occur in adult social care setting for example; having inadequate facilities for those with disabilities, making demands on the workforce which ma disadvantage some employers such as using complicated language. Biii- Describe Ways of Working That Are Inclusive And Support Anti- Discriminatory Practice. Accepting and welcoming diversity and respecting and valuing differences. Taking in to consideration of other people’s views, opinions and specific needs, for example planning actives so that all can be involved regardless of disability or age etc.

When it is used as a contrast or addition to equality, it is about recognising individual as well as group differences, treating people as individuals, and placing positive value on diversity in the community and in the workforce. Equality: Equality is about ‘creating a fairer society, where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. To offer each unique child equality of opportunity suited to their individual needs and requirements.
Discrimination can also make people feel isolated and affect individual’s hopes and expectations. Can also lead to stereo typing, labelling and producing prejudices. 1.3 Explain the importance of inclusive practice in promoting equality and supporting diversity. Inclusive practice is about the attitudes, approaches and strategies taken to ensure that people are not excluded or isolated. It means supporting diversity by accepting and welcoming people’s differences, and promoting equality by ensuring equal opportunities for all.
