INTRODUCTION The recruitment process of any organization is complex as the requirements for each position and each portfolio are different. The recruitment and selection procedure have to be changed at regular time intervals as per the industry needs. Through this term paper we have tried to understand the recruitment process of HSBC – GR for the role of Customer Service Executive in the Consumer Finance department at Hyderabad. The interviews were conducted at Fairlinks Placements on the 12th and 13th November. The initial information on sourcing for the job role was obtained by interacting with the HR personnel. HSBC uses a ‘multiple hurdle approach’ in selecting a candidate where the candidate is put through different rounds of interviews to assess various skills. A candidate has to clear a round to go through to the next one. The consultancy conducts the first three rounds of interview and the candidates who clear all these rounds are sent to the organization for further rounds of interview. Team members sat through the interviews to understand the style of recruitment. We have also attempted to identify a few areas of improvement in the hiring process of the company and documented them as suggestions. SOURCING Sourcing is the process of identifying various sources of recruitment from where prospective candidates for a job role may be acquired. On interacting with the HR, it was found that the organization had identified 5 sources of recruitment for this particular job role, namely, employee referrals, walk-in, consultancy, campus selection and job fair. However, as a part of this term paper we observed the selection procedure at the consultancy.
