Without going to college, people will make minimum wage, if he/she do make good money, it is because he/she are breaking their backs for it. By attending college, a person will make more than both of these people. Also, a person could be trained in many different areas, ensuring a good career. Going to college will make getting a job in life an easy task. A person with a college education could take a good job, and will often find better ones throughout life.
The leap from high school to college is a large one. Many students enter post-secondary education expecting the experience to be the same as the one they had while at secondary school. These students are wrong to make this assumption, and they very quickly realize just how different college is. College costs more, presents more academic challenges, and offers a more social environment than high school. Second, the workload in college is more challenging than the workload in high school.

Education and higher learning are necessary to create and maintain technology. In today’s society it is virtually impossible to find employment, especially without a college education. Applicants without degrees are often overlooked for positions, even ones they may have experience in. Some employers would prefer to hire an employee with an education than someone who has had experience in the field. In 2011 the Bureau of Labor statistics reported that there were significantly higher unemployment rates for individuals without a college education.
A few of these include the ability to get a better paying job, the flexibility for more job opportunities that I will be qualified for, and a more stable life for me. With the failing economy having a large impact on higher paying jobs in the area we live in a college degree will help me to get a better paying job. Due to the fact that there are so many unemployed people in the area we live it is hard to find an entry level job that does not require some type of schooling after high school. Most jobs that are available to me currently with just a high school diploma are minimum wage jobs. Thus, with the cost of living rising and the constant rise in everyday essentials such as gas it is hard to live comfortably on that type of pay.
Returning to school has been a dream of mines since I graduated from high school. The different job opportunity and having a better income to support me and my family would make me so happy. Quitting my job of 14 years motivated me to return to school to earn a degree. I want to have a stable and good paying job so that I can save for my son’s college as well. Jobs are hard to find these days, especially when they are seeking a High School diploma or a College degree of some sort.
