Rain (Grace or Disgrace) ‟Rain, rain, go away. Little children want to play.” This nursery song is what many people would sing and actually believe that could wipe out the rains. But, of course this is just one of the many mythical practices Filipinos are fond of. Rains, which a fact is uncontrollable part of nature. Not a single mortal can stop this environmental cycle from falling. As how normal to expect the sun to shine every after dawn, it is usual also to experience wet seasons as the month of July comes. Everyone in the Philippines encounters this phenomenon typically. Who wouldn’t love the rain showers from heaven’s grace? Rain water, most wanted by the hardworking farmers, helps a lot in giving life to the farm, their workstation. Drizzles sprinkle the plants and make them grow. Plants, everyone’s dear source of food and many other supplies, certainly satisfy human basic needs. The cold breeze rain brings to families in their houses, invite them to rest and cuddle together. On these matters, rain is indeed beneficial. However, rain may become dangerous, more so disastrous when turns heavy and last long. People, who at first enjoy it, start to get bothered in circumstance like storm. Children, who supposedly are busy studying in schools, lessen the opportunity to learn more because they need to miss classes and stay home instead for safety. Residents from high land areas panic of possible landslide devastation. Localities get alarmed of the flood which may soon disturb their quiet living. Come to think of it, if all these distresses are part of the unstoppable nature forces, how can humanity ever be precluded from these? There is uncertainty in escaping from catastrophe heavy rains may cause. But one thing is certain; the good Lord did not create rains to harm His sons and daughters.
