Wiglaf displays loyalty as he assists Bewoulf fight off the dragon. Beowulf is losing his magic touch as a leader and he knows that this battle between him and the dragon is going to end in his death. " Beloved Bewulf, remember how you boasted destroy your flame: fight to keep it, now, he strong and brave, my noble king, protecting life and fame together. My sword will fight at your side!,"(2663-2668). Wiglaf knows of the many triumphs Beowulf endeavors, and sees it as an encouragement.
He was looked upon as a hero even by Atticus and Mr. Tate. Boo Radley is very courageous for saving the children’s lives’. But that is not all he has done, Boo Radley stands up against danger on behalf of what society thinks of him. Like how he shows his face to the others when he returns Scout home since he saved her. He didn’t care what they thought of him because he knew already that almost everyone in Maycomb spreads terrible rumors about him so he was fearless.
One of the best examples that I can think of is when Beowulf fought Grendel and won. He stood bravely infront of the monster Grendel, and fought gallantly to victory. Without that time of terror, Beowulf’s true colors of Heroism would not have shown. To sum up everything that I just said, I think that Emerson would consider Beowulf a hero due to all of the battles that he fought gallantly and won. Not once in the story did Beowulf show a sign of weakness, even without any armor, he still fought bravely and
Odysseus: A True Heroic Figure “But I would not give way.” This simple, yet strong, inspiring quote was stated on page 218 of book 9 of the Odyssey by the heroic figure Odysseus, when his crew members were ready to take everything they could escape with and avoid confrontation with the menacing Cyclops. Even though this six letter quote is short and to the point, it shows how determined Odysseus really is. I believe that Odysseus is a strong heroic figure in Greek mythology. His best qualities that reflect his heroic character are his cleverness, caring heart for his crew members, and his strong determination. Although this crafty hero has many other great qualities, these qualities are the highlights of his character.
Although Frank is a respected war hero who saved many lives and also idolized by David but when he treats the young Indian women, he molest and rapes them. He shows no sign of pity for them and will kill them after molesting or raping. Julian Hayden is a man who loves gaining control of others. He assumes that he’s above the law so ‘they couldn’t arrest us’. When Julian slowly found out about Frank’s crimes, he thinks that Frank should not be arrested because he is the war hero.
He spared Lennie from dying scared and tortured. George loved Lennie and killing him was one of the most selfless things he would ever do. In the end, George comforted Lennie by telling him their story again so the last thoughts Lennie had were happy ones. If George had not killed Lennie, he would have regretted it the rest of his life. He would have betrayed not only himself, but Lennie as well.
Odysseus was smart enough to know what would happen if you eat the Lotus and didn’t want his men to forget everything. A good leader has to make sure his men are listening to him even if that means he has to threaten them. In this case, Odysseus tell his men that they won’t go back home if they eat the Lotus which keeps them away from it. Odysseus’ strength as a leader was what helped him to see his family after all of the challenges he had to
But most heroes tactics, weapons, and courage to become heroes. Beowulf did a great job in putting these three abilities together, which basically made him an epic hero. He didn’t fight for his survival; he fought for the survival of his people, which is why he sacrifices his life at the end so his people could have a
I believe that the Character Odysseus from the Epic poem The Odyssey portrays being an epic hero because of the fact that he is brave, loyal, and intelligent. I will use evidence from the text to prove how he was so Intelligent, Brave, and Loyal. Prove of how Odysseus is intelligent in the Odyssey, is at the stanza 315 when he tells the Cyclops that his name is nobody. This later on is very helpful as for when the other Cyclopes’ are asking what’s wrong and what happened and who did this to you. He says nobody which makes them believe that he is okay and that there is no one hurting him when really Odysseus is there in the cave with the Cyclops.
Beowulf is often lionized as a courageous soul, a fearless leader, and an epic hero. He jumps into battle against monsters and creatures without a worry or fear of death and annihilation. His belief in providence makes him brave, but simultaneously irrational and dumb. Readers of Beowulf usually look only at his positive characteristics such as his legacy, strength, perseverance, pride, and alignment with the heroic code. Readers also question whether or not Beowulf is a true epic hero or just an idiot leader.
