The poem Odyssey is written by the Homer in 700 BC. It is a long narrative poem and most of it is told by Odysseus. The poem Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, a war hero from Ithaca, and his 10-year journey home from the Trojan War. It explains all of the encounters that Odysseus comes across in his way home to his wife Penelope and son Telemacus. Every time in the story as he encounters the problem in the way the God helps him. It is hard to compare the qualities between the great hero and me; somehow I have qualities similar and different then him. Heroes are people who saved the people. The main character in the Homers epic poem, Odysseus possesses heroic qualities, such as bravery, wisdom, a strategic thinking, courageous, strength, cleaver, extravagant curiosity, and honorable. As in the story when he escapes from Cyclops cave he showed that he was brave and a great strategist when he poked Cyclops eye with pike of olive, he decided not to kill him because if he killed Cyclops, he would not be able to get out of the cave. This also shows he was wise and cleaver and able to think about the situation before doing anything. At the time when Cyclopes is making the meal of his friend he bravely said “Here is some drinks for you which we carry” (9 ;). These are some qualities which I can say I possess. His impulsiveness with Cyclops almost destroyed him and his companions but his bravery and clever strategy were able to save almost all of them. He has bad thinking and qualities even though he is brave man with good qualities. Selfishness, proud, boastful, stubborn, irresponsible, violation, disobedient, strength etc. These are some qualities that I don’t have even though Odysseus possesses them. Through his occurrences with Scylla and Charibdis, the Sirens, and Helios' cattle, Odysseus' heroic character is further disclaiming because through all encounters
