We contacted Ron Schmidt the Facilities manager for the Pickard and Doan Campuses. We got in contact with Mr. Schmidt and asked him what the current square footage for the Doan center was and what the Heating and electricity costs for the Pickard and Doan center were. Mr. Schmidt’s response was, “The size of the current Doan Building is 170’ x 170’ equaling total 57,800 sq. feet for 2 floors (Schmidt). The recent energy bills and energy used to heat and cool the building are in the business office in Harrison. You could contact Lillian Frick, V. P. of Finance to gain access to this information.” Once we tried to get a hold of Lillian Frick we spent two weeks calling and leaving voice mail messages with no response back. We then contacted Matt Miller the executive director of college advancement and asked him for the information on the current heating and electricity costs for the Doan center and the Pickard campus. Mr. Miller’s response was, “I’m sorry that Lillian hasn’t been able to get back to you yet. We’re in the middle of budget season and she’s been very busy. She would be the one that has that information, but I’m not sure if she’ll have time to get it to you or not – I don’t think that those are numbers that we have just laying around. Is there a way to complete the presentation without the numbers? Could you just make suggestions that are proven to save energy without making a cost comparison?” After this reply I contacted Stephen Eaton the Dean of Occupational studies and asked him the same questions with in one day he responded with the information we needed to make our cost analysis. The numbers Stephen sent to me were these, $64,918.74 Doan electricity (including the house), $76,253.04 Pickard electricity, $40,111.38 Pickard gas, and $64,661.73 Doan gas (including house)
