When I found out Abercrombie and Fitch and other companies splashed colorful logos on their shirts to get teenagers to buy them, I was disgusted. It was just a marketing ploy to exploit teenager's desires to be trendy. I began wearing plain colored t-shirts; fashion was something vapid and superficial. I started to kiss my mother goodbye in front of my friends, and told my parents, "I love you," as I hung up, when I realized it was considered "cool" to complain about and even dislike your parents. I cut out teenager colloquialisms in my speech because the way my classmates talked irritated me.
There should not be an amendment against flag burning in the United States. Burning the flag is encouraged by Congress to retire the colors, so an alternative means of respectful disposal would need to be found. (http://www.youdebate.com/debates/flag_burning.htm). The action of burning the flag of the United States is seen as an act of the highest disrespect and offence; however, free speech is protected by the First Amendment, and that includes the right to burn a flag in protest. If the government were to ban this because of its highly offensive and challenging nature, the people might slowly see their freedom of speech disappear as more and more ‘offensive’ actions were banned.
At first, anything sexual and not modest was looked down upon. Regarding the book, Sexual Behavior in the Human Female, “It is impossible to estimate the damage this book will do in the already deteriorating minds of America.” However, the days of modest teens and young adults were clearly gone. Men and women alike were no longer afraid to experiment with one another—it was an age of so called love and lust, and nothing, as well as nobody, was off limits. As sex-symbols such as Marilyn Monroe began to emerge during the 1950’s, magazines with sexual images began to emerge as well. Playboy magazine first appeared in this time period, and seemed to bring together sex with everyday life.
He goes to Montag’s house to check up on him. Noticing that Montag seems uneasy, the captain explains how books became illegal and why firemen do what they do. He explains that books only cause conflict across the human race and that they have no purpose. New concepts like television and sports have been created as a non-degrading new form of entertainment, revealing that this society takes place in the future. Books are seen as evil in this society so the new job of firemen was to burn these banned books to promote world peace.
He mention what is the president and public want from gun control laws even the public think all new government laws will not work to reduce the illegal used of gun. I agree with Wilson criticism of gun control legislation in same time I agree with the public of the effective of the new laws. Wilson tries to propose some solutions of illegal gun and should control and ban the use of these guns. Wilson has some ideas and major actions to solve gun control debate. He mentions the relating between shrinking the stock of legally purchased guns and people self defend.
Zubair Abedin Block 4 The theme of the story Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury is censorship. They live in the future where books are banned and the people are uneducated. If people have books in there possession then they’re in danger of getting in trouble by the authority. The main character of this book is Guy Montag who is a fireman, but in the future firemen start fires instead of putting them out, they start the fires in places that have books in them. Government should not be able to make personal decisions for society because it disrupts lifestyles and ultimately does not benefit people.
Censoring a novel because of its use of certain words without examining the context is absurd. Dr. Sarah Churchwell explains, “The fault lies in the teaching, not the book, you can’t say I’ll change Twain because it isn’t compatible with my teaching methods.” When a work contains content that could be considered hurtful it is important to teach the context behind the content, not avoid the work of literature
They begin to become less respectful of women because Wayne disrespects women in his music. When Lil Wayne raps about criminal activity and the aspects of the street life he makes it seem like a profitable career. Many young men think selling and using drugs is justifiable because he is shown in his videos having all of the money, power, and girls in the world. A good role model has a good public image. When good role models are in public they are obeying state laws and not doing anything illegal.
I highly doubt cigarette ads have anything to do with this act, as he only reads children’s books: instead, he is simply mimicking the actions of my relatives who smoke. Of course, my parents chastise his actions and he then understands the act is wrong, for him at least. With this example in mind, maybe what the government needs to do is concentrate more on education and awareness of the dangers of smoking tobacco. Glasser himself states education, not censorship, is the true way to handle the tobacco
If this is in fact a valuable reason to prevent someone from marrying, then why doesn’t the government create a law banning all women and men who cannot or will not have children from being able to legally marry. It would be funny to see the government try to make us sign a promissory note to ensure our obligation to have at least one child just to make their claim against homosexuality more
