Type of Play Play is very important in the child’s growth and development (Myers 2012). The type of play that is found in early childhood are things that use their hands, and minds. Using games/toys helps kids interact with other kids to create a social environment and comfort. Play also helps children learn in many ways (Myers 2012). You usually find kids playing with blocks, building things, and games that use their imagination (Guyton
1.1 Different reasons why people communicate. When in early years setting, people communicate for a range of purposes, such as, to give/receive information or instructions, to discuss an issue, to express needs/opinions and to develop their own learning. When those, who provide care for children and young people, communicate, their practice becomes better adapted and communication is vital to work together as a team. According to K.Beith et al “as an early years practitioner, the way you communicate with adults will also affect the quality of care provided for the children” and it is important to communicate effectively to ensure that everyone has clear information and can understand your actions. (Beith.K et al,Pg.2, Level 2 certificate for the Children and young people’s workforce, 2010, Heinemann, Harlow) When I work with children I communicate with children and young people to build relationships, verbal or non-verbal communication may be used to help children and young people feel welcome and valued, and to co-ordinate activities.
Unit 82 promote creativity and creative learning in young children 1. Understand the concepts of creativity and creative learning and how these affect all aspects of young children’s learning and development. 1.1. Analyse the differences between creative learning and creativity. Creative learning is about helping children develop imaginative thinking through an exploration of materials, objects and problem-solving skills, such as construction and ICT and crafts.
As working with children will not be easy in aspects of planning, teaching etc. it is important that you commit some valuable time to plan your lessons and spend your time wisely with children to help them learn. An example of this is preparing work for children of different abilities as they have different learning methods and some may take more time or require extra support due to learning difficulties etc. It is relevant for an early years practitioner to work well in a team as it is important to acknowledge everybody's contribution which is their right. You should adopt a ‘we’re in this together’ approach.You should also be aware of how to behave within your team and be supportive and co - operative.
What is happening in the child’s environment. It also includes whether the child has any additional needs or which children/people are around the child as the child may act differently around different groups of friends and different members of staff. To assess young children in a setting you follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) the EYFS give guidelines as to what a child should achieve at what age or stage. To find out what stage a child is achieving members of staff, especially the key person, perform observations and record these. These observations should cover all areas which are Physical development, Communication and language, Literacy, Personal, social and education, Maths, Art and design and Understanding the world.
We may regularly work with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. We are likely to be the person who the child feels more comfortable to talk to when the rest of the class are not around. It is important that we know how to recognize when abuse may be happening and what action we should take. While we must avoid jumping to conclusions we must always be observant. We may notice physical signs or changes in a child’s behaviour, or the child may hint or disclose to us that they are being abused or bullied.
Play activities are essential to healthy development for children and adolescents. Research shows that 75% of brain development occurs after birth. The activities engaged in by children both stimulate and influence the pattern of the connections made between the nerve cells. This process influences the development of fine and gross motor skills, language, socialization, personal awareness, emotional well-being, creativity, problem solving and learning ability. The most important role that play can have is to help children to be active, make choices and practice actions to mastery.

C8- Analyse the importance of play in children’s learning, giving reasons why play should be included in planning. It is important to include play in a child’s learning and experience, this is because it enables them to explore and learn new things independently and through a way in which they understand. From play they are able to express their feelings and thoughts on the subject through interpreting the situation, events, or experience they’ve seen. It’s a good way of allowing children their own space to make choices of what, when, and who they play with, giving them many opportunities to build on relationships which is a good aspect in enhancing their communication skills and ability to work with others and co-operate efficiently. Play is a ‘’free flow’’ experience which enables a child to progress at their own pace.
The Early Years Learning Framework states that children need positive attitudes and sound understandings in numeracy to be successful learners and that the foundations for numeracy are formed in early childhood (DEEWR 2009, p. 38). In my overview ACARA (2012) and SACSA (2004) concepts are sequentially introduced. Developmentally appropriate experiences that promote hands-on experiences provide opportunities for scaffolding children’s learning and consolidation of skills and concepts. Number rhymes, songs and games are an important part of the daily routine. Books and stories that relate to mathematical concepts are regularly shared.
