Columbine Shooting April 20th, at Columbine Senior High School in Littleton, Jefferson County, Colorado, two teenage gunmen entered the school and began shooting. The enormous amount of media coverage that these events typically get serves to perpetuate the same kind of crime elsewhere. I see a major problem in the routine, continual violence that these children see everyday in the news, both print and television, and a responsibility on the part of the media for the type of information that it is exposing to today's youth. Many of these victims were Amanda Todd, Tyler Clementi, Olivia Penpraze, Rehtaeha Parsons and many more that ended their own lives because of bullying. Bullying usually starts off as teasing but then turns into continuous teasing and mocking. According to WHO, someone around the globe commits suicide every forty seconds.

The time was approximately 11:19 a.m., when the massacre began at Columbine High School. which in the end claimed 15 lives, which included the two shooters, and injuring 20 others (Wikipedia 2009). This was not an act committed by individuals from other countries trying to send a message but by two young men of our own culture. Shortly after, people began questioning who was accountable for this heinous act.

Gun Control Recently, it seems that everyone and their mother are arguing over gun control and the many aspects of it. Many people seem to be blind to the facts and statistics, yet continue to have strong opinions on something that they are simply uneducated about. I have researched the gun control laws in not only the United States, but many other countries throughout the world, as well as the facts associated with many of the violent crimes in America. There have been many gun related deaths on the news lately. Whether it is a mass shooting at an elementary school, or a police officer shooting an individual, people use these events to twist around the actual facts and make a stronger argument for gun control.
