It is possible for John to be penalized or he could lose his employment with the company. The Sycamore Pharmaceuticals will get a legal actions called to them for the immoral actions and again Blake may lose his job or at least not receive a bonus at the end of the year. Although the benefits for being honest and informing the FDA about all that he knows about the drug they are promoting should give him a good piece of mind and it will also show people that he is a good and moral person. “Workforce participation is a key feature of public mental health and social inclusion policies across the globe, and often a therapeutic goal in treatment settings”. (Olesen, S. C.,) Together with the mental health that will come from being a good individual Blake should not have a problem getting a new position with a new company if Sycamore Pharmaceuticals decided to let him go or he could just decide to walk out on his own.
My daughter who is in Grad school for Clinical psychology has a saying “those who go into the helping professions go for one of two reasons they need a psychologist or they want to save the world” I can honestly say I want to save the world, seems a bit unrealistic but it’s the truth. My current profession as a Soldier incorporates all the value I was raised with; loyalty, duty, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. My past experiences, family and culture have a lot to do with the person I am today and the clinician I am striving to become. I was born to a mother who was 15 years old and already had one child. My mother didn’t have the benefit of counseling or parenting classes during the 1960’s African Americans were still fighting for equality so counseling was something that was unheard of.
We need to make ourselves knowledgeable about all of the effects of prescription medications in order to make good decisions for our overall health because if we do not, then we are merely playing dice with our health just like the users of illegal drugs. Prescription pain medications are used by patients to relieve extreme pain or discomfort. Although pain relievers are legal, increasing the frequency or amount that you use can cause harm to your body that was not originally intended. Pain medications release opiates that act in much the same way as the opiates found in heroin. Opiates can make your body feel relaxed, drowsy, and numb in place of those feelings of pain and discomfort.
I do not believe ethic is always black and white and sometimes certain decisions health care providers make can might be considered unethical but made for the right reasons. I do believe health care providers attempt to make ethical decisions daily but moral dilemmas and conflict can get in the way. “Not all ethical dilemmas involve choosing between two happy options. Sometimes an ethical dilemma involves having to choose between two actions, both of which are undesirable options” (Ingram&Parks, 2006, p.16). This writer will explore her own ethical dilemmas by using the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) to determine if I am as ethical as I may think.
It also appears, however, to be a very fine line between preventing an illegal kick-back and disrupting a legitimate fee for a necessary service by an authorized professional. While it is important to discourage the former, some feel that expanding on the already broad statute for the purpose of sealing a few loopholes might accomplish more of the latter. “Because the law is broad on its face, concerns have already arose among health care providers that some relatively innocuous, and in some cases even beneficial, commercial arrangements are currently prohibited by the anti-kickback law” (Office of Inspector General, 1999). It is for these reasons that after careful consideration of all of the various resource materials used to complete this study, I must conclude that although the potential to exploit the healthcare system in the aforementioned manner still exists, the risk/reward balance has been tipped in the favor of integrity since the advent of anti-kickback
Fierce competition is not avoidable after the patent expires, which may drive down the profit margin. However, some examples, such as Listerine, indicated that OTC product can maintain in the market for a much longer time, because consumers have the tendency to self-diagnose their common ailments, and obtain a drug without prescription. Secondly, Pepcid is a safe drug, and its indication is a common chronic problem in public that is relatively easy to self-diagnose and self-treat. By making such a drug an OTC product, the company can gain access to a larger consumer base and thus gain more profit. Pepcid as a prescription drug has already gained its market as a brand name drug.
Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, DNK: Copenhagen Business School Press, 2009. p 143.) “In the wake of mounting scandals corporations, all around the world are adopting ethical conduct, code of ethics. They are excellent organizations, which have shown a spurt of activity towards evaluation of goals, concepts, values management and conduct.” (Paliwal, Manisha. Business Ethics. Daryaganj, Delhi, IND: New Age International, 2006. p 17.)
YIT1 PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND VALUES CORINNE BRONKEMA WESTERN GOVERNOR’S UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL ROLES & VALUES PROJECT My personal nursing mission statement is changing and developing as my career advances, however, one core piece will remain constant. I have had conversations with them, and they related patience is something needed if you want to become a good teacher at any level. The level of patience required for collegiate level is less than elementary or intermediate level according to my family members. This is why I chose to teach at the adult level. Once I retire from the military, I intend on using this adult education degree to qualify as a junior college teacher. I have already checked into the hiring process for junior college and if the institution is hiring when I retire I should meet the requirement as an instructor.
Fraud and Risk Fraud is a serious crime that affects individuals and groups differently. Whether it is a small organization or a large firm, fraud remains a relevant risk to the success of a company. Fraud that is uncovered within a company can often indicate the end of that organization's existence, which means that companies have to take special care to protect themselves as well as the many employees who depend on them everyday for survival. The advent of fraudulent cases where individuals within organizations take advantage of a company's profits through technology or other means has created an increasing important need for companies to invest in fraud risk assessments, which helps to protect the company and its members. Cases like Enron, Madoff and other fraud cases have left companies vulnerable regarding how to resolve potential problems that may be related to fraud.
