I have never been a very artsy person, but I do love looking/watching art. Many people may just consider drawing and painting art if they do not have any formal knowledge of exactly what art is. I view art as a very wide variety of things. I believe art is all around us, and it takes many different forms that may not be considered art by some people. I believe that if a person has a special talent that they can show off to the world, the talent can be considered art.
Personally, I think that art cannot be limited to drawing, painting, or sculpting. Art is all around us. When people walk into a room and see a bouquet of flowers, they may think to themselves how beautiful the arrangement is. When I see something like that, I think it is art because I believe that the florist who arranged them has an amazing talent to take something so simple and create a masterpiece. I think that is part of what art is. Taking something so simple like paper and pencil, paint, clay, or even flowers and transforming it into a new piece of beauty. This ability takes talent, and not everyone can accomplish such outcomes. Another example of someone taking something so simple, and creating something so complex and beautiful would be mathematicians. Their ability to take numbers and create so much from so little is honestly astounding, and I believe that excelling math is truly an art because many people are not good at math.
Art is not just taking something simple and transforming it into a masterpiece, but it is also using your body to show off your talents. Dancers and other people in the performing arts create art with their bodies. The way these people move, express their feelings, and use their bodies is just a way to show off their talents like a painter would do with paint on a canvas.
