“People on the Bridge” by Phaitoon Thanya is a story which revolves third class community in Thailand which is the people who lives in the suburb. The author tried to present an often heard of human behavior, which is fighting for something that useless to be talked about. This short story happened in Thailand which when the author wrote “The stake of almost three hundred thousand baths attached to its horns…” (Line 12-13) and since the author is from Thailand and he was using his own country as a setting to this short story. This story is using third person point of view. This whole short story happened in one day which tells us a story about bull keepers, bull, villagers, monk and a bridge. The first bull keeper was taking his red bull for a walk as an exercise to build those muscles on that bull so that it’ll be strong during any upcoming fight. He was planning to take his bull for a walk at the sandy beach which is located at the other side of the narrow bridge. The bridge can only fit one bull at a time, so the bull keeper has to walk backward facing the bull in order to lead the bull to the other side of the bridge. The bridge is basically can’t hold such a heavy weight, it kept swinging when someone try to walk on it but not for the big bull. It walked through the bridge with gracefulness and it does not shake that much. However, something weird happened on that very day. The bridge was rather shaky than any other day. The bull keeper was puzzled until he heard a bull snorted at his back and that’s when he realized that there are two bulls trying to cross that bridge at the same time. The bull keeper said that he took his red bull everyday on this bridge but nobody ever used the bridge at the same time with him. He was furious when he found out this guy use the bridge at the same time he gets on the bridge. The whole story begins when the both of the
