Introduction. For the purpose of this assignment, students being given two case vignettes to choose from. I have chosen a case vignette B: Delayed Grief Reaction. “Gail is a 38 year old married woman with no history of depression. She presented to her GP with severe throbbing headaches, difficulty falling asleep, fitful and disturbing dreams when asleep, and poor appetite. Gail said she felt “disgusted” with herself and “useless” to her family. Her family history revealed that she had three children, two boys and a girl. Her eldest son, 20 years old was attending college, and her daughter 19 years old was living with a friend. Her youngest son was killed in a car accident two years before at 15 years of age. She described him as her “baby” and expressed much guilt for contributing to his death. She scolded herself for allowing him to drive to the seashore for the weekend with friends, and said she now worries a great deal about her other two children. She said she was trying to protect them from the dangers of the world but they resented her advice and concern. On questioning Gail, the nurse established that these feelings of sadness and guilt had emerged in the last month, and seemed to be triggered by the graduation of her son’s high school class.”(Farrell 2013). The first part of the assignment will explore normal and pathological grief process, as well as underpin and describe Gills clinical presentation to a specific stage of Rodebaughs’ theory of grieving. Second part of this written work will explore diagnostic criteria, and key elements of complicated grief. As well as that I will explain my logical pattern of Gills assessment, merely based on presented symptoms as outlined in the vignette. I would briefly outline important parts of ACER assessment tool, based on presented complaints by the client. Correspondingly I would describe self-reporting
