Is Pat Tillman a Hero? What exactly is a hero? A hero is someone who is admired for courage or noble qualities. I think that Pat Tillman was one of America’s greatest heroes of the 20th and 21st century. He was an extremely brave and generous person and a loving person to all of his friends and family. He risked his life out of respect to the people who were killed on September 11, 2001, and for the love of his country. He proved to many people that if you truly love something and care about something you should be willing to die for it. Pat Tillman defines heroism. After the attacks on September 11th, Pat made a decision that would change his life forever. He decided to join the US Army and fight in Afghanistan for the love of his country. Many people including me believe he also made this decision for the people that perished in the attack. Even before joining the army, Pat participated in many thing for the good of the community, that showed his heroism. He volunteered the Boys and Girls Hope charity, the March of Dimes, and the Boys and Girls Club of Arizona. Pat Tillman didn’t just fight in the army; he also made contribution as a civilian. Unfortunately, Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire. This does not lessen his role as a great American hero. It takes a tremendous amount of courage for a person to serve in the U.S. Military. He willingly enlisted in to defend our country and freedom. He put his own life in danger for the sake of our liberties. I think this makes any man or woman an American hero. Pat Tillman was no different from any other soldier, except for one thing. He was a professional athlete who left a multimillion dollar contract in the National Football League to join the US Army. He sacrificed fame and fortune to pursue his beliefs. Ultimately, he sacrificed his life for his country. I believe Pat Tillman
