Observation William Hopkins I. General Information or Demographics This observation was done at Panera Bread in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Panera Bread is nestled in a shopping strip where a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Old Navy, AT&T Wireless, and a very large Giant Food Store. This shopping area is populated throughout the day as it is featured right off of Route 15, which takes travelers to Harrisburg and points north one direction and Gettysburg in the other direction. Camp Hill is not known for much other than being home to Holy Spirit Hospital. The town is not very big, it has a small downtown borough and some extending city limits. Parts of Camp Hill are comprised of rather wealthy families and some parts are filled with low-income families. It was roughly 4pm in the late afternoon on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Granted, female was taking girl out to eat, Panera Bread is on the lower end for pricing of restaurants. Although Panera is not very unhealthy a growing child could use more than soup. Since the girl was eating crumbs, it’s possible that she may not be getting fed anough at home as well. If female went to college, she is a couple years out. Since male or female did not touch the girl, I believe that this structure was not a family. Since the girl was not misbehaving, the adults seemed to not want to interact with the girl as much. The girl took the lead role as an only child as she was the only child present at the time of observation. Did not see any expectations other than the girl behaving well as she did not act out in the public. When getting into the car, the girl opened her own door and got into the car. These observations conclude that the female did not show a deep care of the girl, or that the girl is very independent at a young
