What are the impacts of overpopulation and what can be done about it? “Population growth is the primary source of environmental damage” (Jacques Cousteau). The most of all worlds problems are due to overpopulation. The Humanity is condemned if the situation doesn’t change. The increased birth rate, increased longevity, reduced infant mortality, lack of education, the cultural influences and the inefficacity of the countries to prevent overpopulation effect are the causes of overpopulation. Every day more children are born than people die. Bringing it to a drastic grow of the world’s population. This reflexion will present the actual global situation of overpopulation, impacts of overpopulation and solutions, which can be adopted. Global Situation The actual situation is being critical. The future of the earth is uncertain because of human behaviour. The population in 2011 on earth was over seven billion humans. It has doubled in the past 45 years. Every two-minute around 280 people are increasing the population or differently said a new city like San Francisco is appearing every month. Per day more than 50 species of plants are disappearing, going to their extinction. The oceans are being over-fished changing the species balance. The earth’s lungs commonly called the rain forest are being exploited, destroyed and consumed faster as it can regenerate. The function of the actual society is based on the fossil fuels energies that needed millions of years to appear. This energy is not unlimited and our way of living is based on it. Every day by getting more and more we are using the fossils energy bringing us to an uncertain future. The consumption society is such that the resources are inevitably less due to increased longevity and reduction of deaths rates.
