This image is a picture of a man fishing in Micronesia and fits into the category of the 3 pronged map, specifically the land use. The phrase I use for this picture is, ”all we’ve got.” What this phrase means is that in Micronesia they do not enough space to farm and grow plants. Micronesia is only 702 sq km and have 0 sq km of irrigated land! Farming and browning crops is something that these islands can’t do, but what they can do is fish. Since fishing is one of the few things they can do, one of their major environmental issues is overfishing. The other countries we have studied have not had issues with people overfishing because they are able to grow crops and have minerals. I chose this picture because it shows how the country is unique…show more content…
The word I used for this image is, ”destructive.” A typhoon is a tropical storm in the region of the Indian or western Pacific oceans. Typhoon seasons begins in the summer and goes through December. The typhoon belt is right on the islands of Micronesia, so when this storm hits, it causes severe damage. In comparison to the USA, southern states have to worry about hurricanes, which are a storm with a violent wind, in particular a tropical cyclone in the Caribbean. These tropical storms are very similar, but happen in different locations. Both regions that are affected by the storms have to prepare for them. However, we haven’t studied a country that was highly influenced by typhoons, which is why this is important to note. I chose this picture because it shows how massive and destructive typhoons can…show more content…
This fits into the data chart category. The word I’m using for this fact is,”changing.” In 1700, the Spanish introduced Christianity to the islands. The people were very traditional and didn’t want to test or change their beliefs. This is why the “X” emoji shows how at first Christianity didn’t not succeed in Micronesian. Then over time, which is shown by the arrow, Christianity started to become more popular. This didn’t happen until the 19th century. As the old traditional generation started to pass away, the new generation started practicing Christianity. This is why 54.7% of the people are Roman Catholic, and 41.1% are Protestant. This then shows the cross emoji because the majority of the population is this religion. I chose this picture because it perfectly shows how over time Christianity was at first declined, but then over time became popular. It is significant because with other countries, they were once held back from a religion and weren’t allowed to practice it. In Norway, the Vikings prevented the people from practicing Christianity, while in Micronesia the people just didn’t want to believe
