Otis Redding was one of the leading pioneers of his time and served as the pinnacle of soul music during the 1960's. Raised with a background in gospel music, Redding launched his career immediately when he needed to earn money in order to support his family. Although it wasn't his first time singing for a record label, he got his first real recording session when he was introduced to Jim Stewart of Stax Records. During the session, he was singing with Jimmy Jenkins, the leader of The Pinetoppers.
