Organizational Structure Comparison of RE/MAX Organizational Structure Comparison of RE/MAX There are several ways of structuring an organization. The key to becoming a successful business is choosing the most effective structure and executing the system to its full potential. I have chosen RE/MAX real estate company to evaluate. The real estate industry has always fascinated me and RE/MAX is one of the most profitable organizations in the industry. RE/MAX is one of largest and most profitable real estate organizations at the present time. Functioning as both a centralized and decentralized organization, RE/MAX is also a franchise and each office is independently owned. Although there are many decisions made at lower levels, the CEO is the chief decision maker (The official board.com, 2012). Below him are the chairman of the board, the vice chairman of the board, the chief financial officer, and 7 directors (The official board.com, 2012). Two large, successful, and well known organizations to compare and evaluate are Apple and CVS. The three are very reputable companies that are similar, but also vary in many ways. Apple’s organizational structure is centralized and the CEO is at the top of the chain (The official board.com, 2012). The chairman of the board, the chief financial officer, and 6 directors are among the many employees that ultimately answer to the CEO (The official board.com, 2012). Apple is not a franchise and its products and services are very different from that of RE/MAX. The company has become the world’s favorite entertainment, listening, reading, and viewing focal point. Apple implements a command-and-control structure where ideas are shared at the top—if not below (Lashinsky, 2011).
