General Purpose: To persuade Specific Purpose: By the end of my speech the audience will to persuade everyone to become an Organ Donor. Central Claim: Everyone should become an organ donor to help save the lives of others. _______________________________________________________________________________________ INTRODUCTION-ATTENTION I. Attention Gettter: I want you to close your eyes and picture yourself sitting in the hospital and knowing that you or someone you love needs an organ transplant what do you do? Would you tell or ask the doctor if you were a match to help save the life of a loved one? II. Relevance to audience (How are we connected?) At someone point ourselves or someone we know may need an organ transplant. III. Establish your credibility on the topic I feel I am able to speak to you on this topic because I have done a lot of research. We wanted to donate my sister Amy’s organs but they couldn’t take her organs because my mother was not able to make that choice. I have learned some new things from the research that I have done. IV. Clearly state your claim -Today I will convince you that you should become an organ donor V. Preview main point: Why you should become a donor, what organs can be donated, and how to become an organ donor. BODY I. NEED: There is a great deal of need for organ donation. Each number represents a life, a mom, a dad, a brother or sister, or a child, someone that is important to someone else, maybe even you. There are so many facts to prove it, but only you can make it happen. Did you know that on average of 79 people will receive an organ transplant. However an average of 18 people will die each day waiting for a transplant on the list because of the shortage of donates. Every 18 minutes another name is added to the transplant list, which means that every 24 hour, 8 people will die because there are not
