The interview would also put pressure on us by looking at that us all the time instead of writing something down to make it look professional. I would also sometimes speak too fast which showed I was nervous which wasn’t good for the role play we was doing. How we could have improved the interview There are many ways we could have improved the interview for example we could have practice the role play and remembered the lines better. The interviewer could have pretended to write something which would have put less pressure on me which would have made me less nervous. At the end instead of only asking 2 questions I could have asked one more which would look really professional.
Eyes and eye contact When there is interest, excitement or affection, our pupils are bound to be bigger and eyes opened. Being interested in the communication also usually means maintaining the eye contact. But long eye contact may also mean anger. When we are not looking into the eyes of the other person we communicate with, it may mean low interest or boredom. Shyness may even cause a person avoiding direct eye contact.
A reader unfamiliar with distance learning might not realize all of the advantages that this approach to education produces. Distance learning provides a student with the flexibility of completing the work at a chosen time and place, allowing students the opportunity to work or spend their time as they choose. Students that live remote distances from campuses, have an opportunity to take classes, that otherwise would be impossible. Online learning provides fewer distractions than in a typical classroom setting. Distance learning is less expensive than traditional classes, due to the savings from area such as; commuting expenses, cost of eating out, clothing cost, loss of work, and babysitting
You don’t always realise that others accent can affect your own way of speaking, this creates the biggest barrier to effective communication. Using strategies helps you to communicate effectively. E.g. * Speaking clearly and slowly Focus on speaking slowly, even if you are on a time limit; don’t rush through your communication. Miscommunication and misunderstanding can result in poor communication.
Communication 2.1 Compare ways to establish the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of an individual. You need to be clear of there needs, ask them personally, ask the family members or the key workers, read their files, you will benefit from any information, there may be drawbacks if you come across any barriers, and you may need to find other means, i.e translators e.t.c. 2.2 Describe the factors to consider when promoting effective communication. Make sure you speak clearly and pronounce your words, and check the tone and pitch of your voice , you don’t always need to shout. Use the correct language, take time to say things, speaking quickly can cause confusion.
This is usually as a result of the client needing to gain more from their sessions rather than continually going over the same issues. Failure to recognise any of these issues can lead to a breakdown in the communicating process and often set the client back to where they started. The client needs to feel valued and listened to. To miss the signs being sent could have major effects on the client. Should a session stop proceeding forward and the client become silent, this would be a good place to find out exactly how they are feeling, and
People’s attitude towards the use of standard and non-standard English varies depending on their upbringing, culture and subjectiveness ass the two forms of English are different in purpose and are context dependent. The use of non-standard English can be to save time due to its ease in its construction and can also enable communicating ones beliefs and culture. However unlike non-standard English, Standard English make it difficult for interlocutors to build closeness due to it mainly being used to convey prestige, power, formality and professionalism. Due to the advancements in technology, many people have shifted from once using Standard English to now using non-standard English majority of the time. Since Standard English is usually time consuming to construct and difficult to use, people find it easier to use non-standard English, where the governing rules and grammar are more flexible making it efficient and easy to use.
Nonverbal Communication Some people think that nonverbal communication is not as important when conversing, in fact, nonverbal cues are more important than the verbal part of relationships. Two cultural rules that govern nonverbal communication and are used every day that I have chosen to violate are personal space and keeping eye contact in a conversation. Keeping eye contact during a conversation as stated by our textbook shows respect and interest in what the other person is talking about. Personal space varies from culture to culture. Some cultures prefer being closer than usual when talking and others prefer their own personal space.
Physical Difference: Members working in face-to-face teams (non-virtual) have a better chance to cooperate, share information or gain attention of their fellow team members. By contrast, virtual team members usually have many other organization members around them with whom they are interdependent for other tasks, and virtual teamwork is only a part of their job requirements. Therefore, the virtual team member may conclude that one of the teams, his traditional face-to-face team or his virtual one have a low priority, leading to downward spiral of decreasing effort. Asynchronous communication: Time lags exist between sending, receiving and response to messages. Since virtual team members rely heavily on electronic mail, file sharing and other forms of asynchronous technology, they are more dependent on the receiver for the timing of needed responses.
Tabaa and Medouri (2013) mentioned that eminent work in Learning Analytics focuses on Learning Management Systems (LMS) and only a very few have dealt with MOOCs. In addition, the utilization of the vast amounts of data generated in learning environments still limited, and different types of analysis, quantitative and qualitative, are required in order for this to be reflected beneficially on stakeholders (Greller & Drachsler, 2012). The applications of Learning Analytics on MOOCs data sets suffered from a broader research that should support decision makers to enhance learning and its environments (Chatti et al., 2014). Accordingly, this chapter discusses and describes the experiment of employing Learning Analytics approach on MOOCs platform. It is believed that this approach excels because it was preceded into the area of student performance, based on relations with interactions from online learning environments, focusing in particular on the MOOCs platform.
