PYC3705 Assignment 1 Introduction: The organisation (counselling context) I have chosen is Claremont Neuropsych services, which is situated in Claremont, Cape Town. This clinic has different doctors ranging from Clinical Psychologists to Psychiatrists at this practice. This is a place where purposeful counselling encounters are taking place daily. I however, found this organisation last year when I needed the services of a psychologist. I wanted to go to a clinic close to home so I did some research on the internet on private practices in my area.
Another key problem was that there were was no direct manipulation of the independent variable so the study doesn’t tell us which element of the stress index is most important and related to the decrease in immune function. Therefore a cause and effect relationship cannot be entirely confirmed, yet a strong correlation between the life stress and the common cold occurred, and for that reason it can be assumed that they were associated with one another. On the other hand the study measured the health outcomes of the participants which proved that there was a relationship between the variables. The results show that the higher the stress index it scored, the more susceptible the participants were to the common cold which subsequently supports Cohen’s theory. Also the study was covered by rigorous ethical considerations as all
The Microsystem because my family and my religious ways have made me develop into the adult I am today. My family sees life has an open window; anything can come in and out, it’s up to the person to only let the good come in and the bad stay out. What Bronfenbrenner explains is true when he states that, “each of these interactions may range from excellent to poor” (Bronfenbrenner, 1979). Any type of relationship has it’s ups and it’s downs. | The Macrosystem I would say have influenced me the most all while growing up.
Explain how the person-centred approach relates to you and your use of counselling skills? (200 words) The person-centred approach perfectly fits my individual beliefs of helping people to help themselves. Within my previous career I have always found helping staff to solve the problems themselves or as a team rather than telling or instructing them has always delivered sustainable results and a happy empowered team who can solve future problems themselves. When I set up my practice I will be fully focused to help my clients look within themselves to find out the root causes of their individual problems and support them to find the right solutions that works for them within their own life’s. It is my hope that through the learnt therapies I will be able to provide my clients with a greater understanding of their feelings and behavior and the help I can give them will hopefully lead to the client living a more fulfilled and meaningful life without the need for constant support.
Online Therapy Website Review Jessica Duer University of Phoenix Professor Swales July 2, 2011 No matter what a person’s reason for searching for an online therapy site, everyone wants the same results. These results include dealing with a legitimate professional who knows what they are doing, to be treated fair and have their rights protected and to get the help they set out to find solutions for. To some, the internet may be a scary place to even think about talking to someone about their private issues, thoughts and problems. Usually, the person searching for online therapy has a difficult time opening up to anyone, let alone a stranger, so turning to an online source may be the more discreet option and it keeps one anonymous.
Though outwardly we are wasting away…inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” We gather here in memory of twenty beautiful children and six remarkable adults. They lost their lives in a school that could have been any school; in a quiet town full of good and decent people that could be any town in America.
Although I am very thankful for all that I have learned, I cannot say that I have helped anyone but myself by taking this course. Yes I have spread helpful hints to my peers in the discussion board, and have carried the valuable knowledge I have been given to those close to me, but I have not actually put out a helping hand and made sure that my knowledge or help has been properly used. That is until I completed my service work assignment. For my service work assignment I donated money to the Greater Houston Community Foundation and designated it to the Curing Children’s Cancer fund. No, I did not take time out of my day to participate in a 5K run, nor did I dedicate a full day to helping the elderly at a retirement home, but I did make sure my knowledge and help was used to benefit my community.
I firmly believe that I am living proof that sexuality truly makes up a part of our soul. If we deny any part of our soul especially a part that needs attention and nurturing to survive our bodies suffer mentally, physically, and emotionally. Since I accepted myself and began this process of loving me, I have lost one-hundred pounds in the past year and a half. I know for a fact that the reason I was able to lose the weight was because my soul did not need any more energy to suppress this part of myself I had been denying my entire
Extremely influential model and most psychologists use it in preference to the STM. | WM only concerns itself with STM and is not a comprehensive model of memory. | Research support comes from dual-task studies, although such studies are rather artificial. However patients like KF could remember visual but not verbal stimuli in STM so must be at least two systems in STM. | It is a much more plausible model than the MSM because it explains STM in terms of both temporary storage and active processing.
By age fourteen I had decided to become a nurse after learning how little time most doctors actually got to spend participating in personal care of patients. In my late teens, after accepting Jesus Christ as my savior, the direction of my life was confirmed by a calling from God that becoming a nurse was necessary for how He planned to use me in ministry. I believe all people are created by God, with love and for a purpose. I believe all people are to be treated with love, care, respect, and dignity no matter what their background or current condition. This is something I have the opportunity to live out daily in my work, in labor, and in delivery.
