Evaluate the effectiveness of business information and its communication as key contributors to the success of an organisation, using examples Llantarnam School Verbal Verbal is one of the key factor of business information as it can make communication a lot easier and quicker to understand and there will also be a less chance of misunderstanding a set of instruction than other type of communications. Some of the communication used in schools are interview, telephone conversations. Llantarnam School uses verbal communication in many occasions like assembly where teachers speaks to the students delivering important messages by face to face conversations. I personally think this is the best way to communicate but there are many problems of this communication like language barrier where I myself sometime find it difficult to understand what teachers are saying as English is not my primary language, the person who you want to talk to might not be present. Written communication This communication is also used very often in Llantarnam School.
Samantha Holmes Ms. Turley English 300, MWF 11:30-12:25 1 October 2012 Assignment 2 In regards to the introduction of what is going to be discussed I would like to say that I think school fails to appreciate the value of good grammar. People are starting to think that the way they text on the phone is okay when sending an email or letter to a professor and even when applying for a job. I think that grammar should be a bigger priority in the English classes starting in middle school and continuing all throughout your years of schooling. 1. McWhorters explains that knowing the difference between certain words like “your” and “you’re” are crucial when hiring people for jobs and writing articles for those jobs.
In speaking to other ELL students whose home language is different, ELL students, use English but due to the students’ limitations in their English proficiency, they expose each other to more broken English I will value the instructional power of a word wall by frequently utilizing, maintaining, and updating it.All too often, secondary educators miss important opportunities to build the literacy skills of all students. This is especially true in
Summary Response Amadeo Constanzo is the author of “Do You Really Think You Are a Good Writer?” and he believes that if you are in a remedial class English then “instead of wasting time and energy on negative thoughts, use the energy and time to improve your writing” or other skills. Constanzo supports remedial classes because even the best athletes train to be better just like a writer practices to become a better writer. I very much agree with Constanzo because the majors I currently have would eventually deal a lot with presentation documents. I am also in remedial English and I know that it would help me becoming a better writer. Benjamin Franklin once said “If a man empties his purse into his head no one can take it away from him.
making presentations. It should be thought keeping in mind the business aim. The objectives are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound .Therefore more focus should be on general vocabulary and phrases used in the business world, business and professional writing such as letters, memos, proposal, preparing and delivering professional presentations etc. Learners find it very useful to practice creating and giving presentations in English. Trainers should help students in creating such presentations and taking questions .All these activities require more efforts.
Through their experiences there were many comparisons to suggest but some stood out more than others; such as, how each writer grew up learning do deal with their family and their English, and on that note what they are doing now to understand how their English language as a second language affects others. The first of the differences was experiences in family life. Each of the writers had very different experiences when it comes to family. Amy Tan had a term she explained as “different English” where Richard Rodriguez had a term he explained as “family quietness”. The difference in the two is that although Amy’s mother did have a hard time speaking the language clearer that the average English speaker she was able to have a language with her family that was English but they had a certain bond with it.
People’s attitude towards the use of standard and non-standard English varies depending on their upbringing, culture and subjectiveness ass the two forms of English are different in purpose and are context dependent. The use of non-standard English can be to save time due to its ease in its construction and can also enable communicating ones beliefs and culture. However unlike non-standard English, Standard English make it difficult for interlocutors to build closeness due to it mainly being used to convey prestige, power, formality and professionalism. Due to the advancements in technology, many people have shifted from once using Standard English to now using non-standard English majority of the time. Since Standard English is usually time consuming to construct and difficult to use, people find it easier to use non-standard English, where the governing rules and grammar are more flexible making it efficient and easy to use.
Does this pattern cause problems in the learning process that Standard English is taught in schools today? Claude Brown says that “no dialect is intrinsically ‘bad’ or ‘good’, and that a non standard speech style is not defective speech but different speech” (Seymour 339). That is something that contradicts the value we emphasize in teaching proper Standardized English. Those who are older and tend to speak Standard English do not understand the “Black English” language. This form of language is some sort of “slang”, something that is mainly used in lower class people to communicate with each other, one way or another.
The second TESOL goal is for the ELLs to use English to achieve academically in all content areas. The last TESOL goal is to use English in socially culturally appropriate ways. Even though the standards that TESOL uses are extremely helpful, they still don’t give teachers enough information they need to make sure that ELLs can achieve high standards in most content areas. . How I communicate verbally also depends a lot on my audience as well. When I am speaking with someone who knows fluent English and they are from America I feel that they may be on my intellectual level and I do not have to explain or rephrase my statements a much. However when I am speaking with someone who speaks a different language I speak to them as if they are children. I do not use lots of big words that I think they may not understand, I "dumb it down" sort of speak, in an attempt to make them feel more comfortable but I have learned that this makes people feel offended. Explain the guidelines for improving verbal communication.
