Children learn mainly through play. That’s why in my classroom I use centers such as art, dramatic play, and blocks. Through these centers children can learn and be as creative as they want to be. For example in the block are children in my classroom not only play in the block area but they learn social skills, math skills, and also language skills. When I introduce the block area to the children I show them the shapes of the blocks and tell them the names of the blocks as well.

Why Children Despise Reading Prior to starting public school, the idea of reading and writing is exciting to many young children. Being able to communicate grammatically as well as verbally with others is an important milestone in a young child’s life. Because of this, educators are pressed to make sure their students are not shorted in their English education. However, according to John Holt’s How Teachers Make Children Hate Reading, the present conventional methods of teaching English are hindering children from enjoying the experience of reading and writing. Today, children view school as a “place of danger”, and their main focus is to avoid danger as much as possible (Holt 360).
This is extremely beneficial for the children as they were learning through play whilst enhancing their knowledge both in school and at home which improves results and higher achievement. The interactive whiteboard gives lessons a different outlook to the traditional method of chalk and talk as it helps aid visual learners whilst giving opportunity for class discussions and positive behaviour. Using the Interactive whiteboard gives a lot more opportunities for teachers to present their lesson plans, making it more motivating and interesting for the children and helps keep them more focused and interested in what their being taught. It is clear that ICT in schools when used appropriately is a positive resource for both teachers and children and will continue to benefit children’s personalised learning throughout the curriculum.
