I have two older sisters that are always doing crappy things to me and at most times I try to justify myself by doing something mean to them but then they get back at me and like I said in the previous paragraph we end up going in circles. I do not believe that people can actually even be justified in taking justice into their own hands. And mainly this is because it just comes right back. People are too busy taking revenge to realize that there is no way to justify yourself without it coming back at
This book encourages me even more to pursue my dream of becoming a Police Officer. This tragedy also made clear that we shouldn’t trust anyone, because even the most inoffensive individual could be a psychopath. However, I consider that the family went through a great deal of pain. I can’t visualize my brother, any relative or even people close to me of being a murderer. I can’t imagine the pain Ted’s mother experienced, knowing that his model son was sentenced to death after being convicted of
In today’s society people are quick to judge and ridicule a persons morals and ethics. There’s many debates on what is considered to be right and wrong for society. Dale Coventry and Jamie Kunz where two attorneys who both faced the agony of holding a great life altering moral secret for 26 years that today is a great source of controversy. Both attorneys knew of a man by the name of Alton Logan who was innocent before he even faced trail but neither attorney could speak up and help to save this innocent man from being imprisoned. If the two would have come forward they would have violated there professional obligations to their client.
As both Danforth and the judges oppress over him, Proctor cannot bring himself to sign, and ultimately leads himself to his own death. “How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!” (Miller 133) In saying this, Proctor emphasizes the emotional strain which people were brought under during the trials. The reluctancy of Proctor to sign away his name allows him to make a much greater impact on the trials, and ultimately serve as a martyr against the corrupt system. The belief that people should not have to lie is one which comes up a lot in Proctor’s life.
Proctors decision makes a dramatic turn when Rebecca Nurse Enters the room. It could be said that Rebecca puts Proctor under a lot of pressure by saying that he is lying to the judges and not being truthful to himself or God. She is almost accusing him of being a coward in which Proctor has despised beings of this nature his entire life. Rebecca "(Astonished) why, John!" "Why, it is a lie" Proctor will have felt a lot of pressure on his shoulders in the short amount of time he had to decide his own fate as he had two different sides chirping in his ear.
People will always do what they want to do trying not to get caught. In the book the defense attorneys were not fair with Jefferson’s trial and they were not nice either by considering him a hog. In trials in the society today people get chances and say on what they did or didn’t do to prove how they’re not guilty. In the novel an innocent black man was not treated with respect. Jefferson was treated as a poor lowlife creature.
I feel terrible guilt for what I have done. But I don’t want to live with a lie that’s not true. I'm afraid that our children would never respect me again; I don’t want our children to think of me as a coward for caving into court. I confessed in order to maintain my own good name not for my self but for our family. Elizabeth I know you blame me for everything
Tobar explains, “The trial attorney he eventually assigned to the case would likely protest his inability to lift The People v. Araceli N. Ramirez over the low bar of proof required for a successful preliminary hearing” (334). Araceli’s case could not be taken to a higher court level, because of the lack of evidence. Instead the trial attorney would, “simply negotiate the charges down from a felony to a misdemeanor in exchange for a plea, give the defendant credit for time served and hand her ass forthwith to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement representatives at the county jail. She would then be swiftly deported, as were the legions of other foregin nationals without papers who landed there” (334). Even though Araceli was charged with a misdemeanor, she was not completely let off the hook.
Dwyer that equates to the pain and challenges that I have endure and will continue to struggle with. My fear is that if Mr. Dwyer’s punishment is too light there will be another victim in his future. For, the last year I have endured the lies he has told others to save his reputation which lead to death threats and trashing of my name and face on the internet. Please let my experiences have a purpose, please make sure that the court is doing everything it can to prevent another victim in Mr. Dwyer’s future. Though, I disagree with the plea agreement, I ask and hope that the court will add community service hours at an agency that serves victims of domestic and sexual violence to Mr. Dwyer’s sentence to remind him the impact he has on another’s life.
I have read some interviews from other SANEs online and many of them admit that it is a very stressful job. It is emotionally draining and dealing with the patients can at times be frustrating when they will not cooperate, but at the end of the day it is so rewarding knowing that you are helping to put a criminal in jail. I understand that there is a lot that will go into getting my degree and certifications and I am prepared to take on that challenge. I also know that when I begin working I will have to deal with some pretty terrifying stories of assault, I will be a part of the patient’s support system, I will have to be very knowledgeable about the sexual assault laws in each state I work in, I will have to be able to develop a plan to keep the patient safe, and still manage to do all of the paperwork and tend to my other patients in the emergency room. It has always been my passion to help others in need.
