Object Essay: What's your most treasured object? Although there are numerous objects I favor, one object I treasure the most is my teddy bear, Anthony. Years ago, when I was about 5 years old, my grandmother unexpectedly handed me a teddy bear as a present. She told me I could name it any name I had in my small, 5 year old mind. It took me a few days until I came up with, what I thought was a beautiful name, Anthony. My teddy bear has a special place in my heart with all his wonderful textures, sights, and smell. Even though some teddy bears can have a rough texture, my teddy bear has a smooth and soft texture. When you rub on his arm, you feel the softness of his fur that feels like a fluffy blanket you just have recieved. Picking up my teddy bear makes you want to cuddle up and go to bed. Gripping his smooth fur around your fingers, you can tell he feels as soft as a single fluffy white cloud in the open blue sky. When you first see my teddy bear, you don’t think much of his clothing, but his clothing has a special value to me. A single navy blue sweater, hand crocheted my grandmother, surrounds his small, caramel colored body. Attached to his head is a loose, lighter shade of blue, beanie making it seem like he’s ready to go out in cold, rough weather. His eyes are made of plastic, but they are not just one color. They have a blend of brown and light green brightening up his facial expression. Most teddy bears have no smell at all, but mine has a breathtaking smell. One wondrous smell that overtakes my teddy bear is the smell of cupcakes. Anthony, being the greedy bear his is, bounced into a tub of cupcake batter, causing him to turn his smell to cupcakes. Another smell is the fragrance of fabric softener. After my teddy bear found his way to the washing machine from the cupcakes, he now has a mixture of smells.
