My Auburn Experience Thus Far

My Auburn experience, thus far, has been the time of my life. Though I have only been here for a short amount of time, I wouldn’t trade anything for these past three months. I have learned so much ranging from academics, to life lessons and skills, to about Auburn itself. More importantly, I have learned more about me as an individual. I have heard that you truly find yourself in college, and I am already beginning to do so. I have experienced so much and have already made friendships that I know will certainly last a lifetime. I have learned a great amount in this short time. The transfer from high school to college is a challenging one. Academically, I have went from learning set in stone facts and events, to a more critical thinking type of learning; how and why things happen the way they do. In high school, good grades came naturally. Here, I have learned that hard work is not good enough. Simply skimming your notes is a near death sentence. I have learned to graciously take advantage of the academic assistance Auburn University offers. Supplemental Instruction, SI, has become a Heaven-sent for my history grade. Having a graduate student, who has previously taken and aced the class, review with you is more than helpful. Study Partners is also a resource that I plan on taking full advantage of. Being a college student on a budget has taught me to take advantage of anything free, one of these things being the services Auburn University offers. Our time here at Auburn is the only time counseling will be free of cost. These resources should be taken advantage of. Counseling from the Student Counseling Services and career counseling from the Office of Professional and Career Development are two resources our campus offers. In addition to academics, I have learned a myriad of life skills. The most important of these skills, in my opinion, is time management. In
