Gardner’s ideas are too drastic and I believe he didn’t have enough support in his argument that his plans would actually decrease the murders in gang violence. To say that his thoughts on drugs are the missing piece to gang-violence; I agree with him one-hundred percent. Yet, to pinpoint on drugs as the only reason viciousness and violence happens in gangs, is almost too good to be true. Dan may as well fly off to Never-Never land, because those dreams aren’t ever coming true. First off, I would like to thank Gardner for his enlightening point of view, of how gang violence is heavily influenced by the whole drug trade and the black market that associates itself with it.
There will never be a thing called privacy. Singer concludes by stating “the world before Wikileaks and Facebook may have seemed a more secure place, but to say whether it was a better world is much more difficult”. (36) Therefore, there is no privacy anymore because we need to know and want to know about the world, and know if life would improve if secret

This plan includes (1) closing background check loopholes; (2) banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines; and (3) improving mental health services. [2] Although the president's plan is well within the confines of the Constitution, the limits imposed by the Court, combined with a fragmented mental health system, mean that no constitutionally permissible plan will be fully effective (citation). Still, the president's plan could reduce the devastating toll of firearm injuries and deaths through a public health strategy. Whether a massacre of grade-school children in a Connecticut town will alter the political dynamics of gun control remains unclear. The nation can only hope that the worst tragedies will inspire the greatest bipartisan
Leonard Birts ENF 234 Computers in Law Enforcement October 30, 2011 The growing danger from crimes committed against computers, or against information on computers, is beginning to claim attention all around the world. This lack of legal protection means that businesses and governments must rely solely on technical measures to protect themselves from those who would steal, deny access to, or destroy valuable information. Self-protection, while essential, is not sufficient to make cyberspace a safe place to conduct business. Countries where legal protections are inadequate will become increasingly less able to compete in the new economy. As cybercrime increasingly breaches national borders, nations perceived as havens run the risk of having
Although Governor Jan Brewer in the article “Arizona Enacts Stringent Law on Immigration,” has a good point about the importance or working to solve our immigration crisis; however, this crisis does not mean that the police should be given the power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. Illegal immigration has been a major problem for many years now in the United States. Everyday thousands and thousands continue making their way into our country through the Mexican border, oceans and neighboring states. Many, including former President George W. Bush have attempted a reform, but have failed or only got so far because it was too controversial. However, Governor Jan Brewer took on the illegal immigration issue to a whole new level by signing the “nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law”, as it was put by the NAACP (“Put an end to Racial Profiling”).
Michael Lynch Prof. Kenneth O’Keefe CJUS 3550-01 Computer Security and Law November 2nd, 2012 CCTV Traffic Enforcement In today’s world it seems almost impossible for society to function without technology. The world seems to act if though it would divert back to the stone ages if it had managed to lose its digital and satellite savvy connections. People just would not know what to do with themselves or how to communicate, let alone know how to function as a law abiding citizen. In today’s technological age we teach citizens how to obey traffic laws and how to read traffic signs through online classes and computer based tests. We even have digital and computer ran traffic devices and that brings into question how does one monitor or
The principle of subsidiary, which is gaining adherents, proposes that, in a modern democracy, decisions should be taken as close to the people as it is feasible. A new entrenched dispersal of powers to the regions and smaller localities would reverse this process and ensure that such centralisation could not occur again. Prerogative Powers The prerogative powers exercised by government on behalf of the Crown are ill-defined and uncontrolled. Unlike statutory powers, which fall under parliamentary control, prerogative-based actions can be limited only if the courts judge them to be excessive. Such judicial action is rare.
Such mass destruction was not necessary to end the war. Even in today’s times we rush to destroy rather than to communicate. I understand that there is no communicating with some people or countries. But is massive loss of life what is necessary to solve all the problems that rise? As for was Harry Truman a great president, I think sometimes we have to look at what we have years later to realize what we had when a president help office.
Every day, I hear about a scandal or crime involving media technology. Some argue that the solution to this problem is to get rid of it. However, making alcohol illegal did not stop others from having access. The solution is very complex and the issues may never be solved. In the meantime, use technology responsibly.
