NOVA: Volcanoes Volcanoes are landforms where molten rock erupts through the surface of the planet. Think of them as pimples on the face of the earth. Today, there are over 1,500 active volcanoes on earth’s surface. Volcanoes cause serious hazards to not only people, but the environment and the nature around us as well. If an eruption were to occur, a number of life-changing things would happen.
Later, in March of 1968 the My Lai Massacre devastated a town of North Vietnamese citizens. American solders fed up and angry with the war killed the entire town of mostly women and children. They were very frightened not knowing what would happen. People were so afraid of death that they prayed to the gods for death. People ran everywhere, most people had died, and some survived. One of those survivors was me, a young man named Angelo. I survived the eruption and witnessed this, lost many valuables, friends, and family throughout the eruption.
It slaughtered all the dwellers of these cities, and polluted the area so that people could not live there. More than sixty years passed, and still no one lives in these places. The consequences of using nuclear weapon were so disastrous and cruel that humans finally understood they had to stop. Most countries signed various agreements stating that they would not use and produce nuclear weapons. Still many countries have nuclear powers, but no one comes to the scratch to use them.
Solar Nebula Contraction- heats up due to collision, flattens into an elliptical plane, spins faster due to angular ,momentum. Planet Formation: stage 1- a nebula is formed that attracts clumps of dust and gas that grows larger and attracts bigger objects (known as accretion). Stage 2- planetsimals are objects the size of moons that have strong enough gravitation to affect nearby moons, which cause larger bodies to collide and make protoplanets and protoson which are the planets that and now evolved today in our solar system. Stage 3- jovian planets form by two ideas- 1. 4 outer planets become large enough to accrete dust and gas forming gas giants or 2.. instabilities in the cooler region of solar system cause a collapse of initial interstellar cloud.
* The biggest known volcano in this solar system is on Mars. Its name is Olympus Mons and it measures 373 miles wide and 13 miles high. * The object with the most volcanic activity in our solar system is Io, one of Jupiter’s moons. Covered in volcanoes, its surface is constantly changing to the large amount of volcanic activity. * Most people think of volcanoes as large cone shaped mountains but that is just one type, others feature wide plateaus, cracks were lava emerges and bulging dome shapes.
9-11 As our classroom sat and watched the horrifying video of 9-11, I never fully grasped that day into detail until seeing the actual footage. People screaming, running, shouting for their loved ones. I can’t even image what was going through those bystanders’ minds. Watching thousands of people being burned every second, and hundreds making the decision to jump to their deaths. So many questions with no answers were asked that day the twin towers burned to ashes.
Any genocide in history is important because a lot of people died in cruel and unusual ways and it’s wrong. Victims of any genocide did not deserve to be discriminated against and did nothing to deserve to be killed from pure hate, and that is exactly what happened in the Ukraine Famine. The Ukraine Famine was headed by Joseph Stalin during 1932-1933. Millions Ukrainian people starved to death and as a result, it oppressed the national pride of the Ukrainian people. In 1929, Stalin arrested over 5,000 educated Ukrainian people and they were either shot without trail or sent to prison camps in remote areas in Russia.
To fight on even though there doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. The most horrific of tragedies ever to happen to man was due to mans evil. The holocaust was a tragedy where over 11 million innocent people were killed for no
Multiple meetings were held to resolve the issue peacefully, but without success. To avoid rapid deterioration of the country, the nations central government brought back the Region to the main fold by force. The Federalist hoped for a quick victory, but after almost two years of a bloody and destructive war. Towards end of April 1969, that was not so, the Biafrans were still holding on.
