From the moment I could start saying words my parents started to teach me how to read and write. My parents were not raised in America they were raised in another country called Guyana in South America. Guyana is a third world country and my parents grew up with very little. They wanted to come to America to raise a family and they knew the importance of a good education.
The program will be beneficial to the girls because it will allow them to feel accepted for who they are, not having to pretend to be someone they are not. They will be grouped with other girls whom many of them have the same issues and

Early in her life Taylor was missing out on the lifestyle of a teenager; she never went to parties, she never had a boyfriend or was considered a girl who was noticed Taylor couldn’t do these things because she was committed to her mother Alice. With the loss of a mother at a young age a person’s life can significantly change, not always for the worst but also for the better. It can change the way someone thinks, handles problems, and control their emotions. This is the case with Lily Owens which loses her mother in a dreadful accident when she was only four years old. Elena carries out motherly duties despite the incredibly difficult circumstances of surviving in Altai labour camp. The family had been in the labour camp for months, they were all weak and hungry. It was Lina’s birthday and Lina thought that her mother had forgotten because of their horrific situation. But really Elena had organized a surprise ‘party’ in the bald man’s hut. Even though their situation seemed bleak, Elena felt that she should still carry out simple motherly duties, like celebrating her daughter’s birthday, to make Lina feel more secure.
Moreover, because of her decision, Nancy Lee becomes more mature and responsible. After overcoming the great pain, she realizes what she supposes to do to help other people and herself overcome the valley of challenge of adaptation. This challenge also affects positively on Nancy Lee by helping her have more courage and power to change the America’s rules, and by that way other colored people will have a chance to adapt
Comparison Katniss is a strong, unselfish, and independent young woman who is a heroine in the story. I see a lot of similarities between us two because I myself have had to grow up faster than planned. From a very young age, I was always stuck home to care for my brother while my mom went to work to support us. In the book, Katniss is a young lady who takes care of her mom, her sister and their family cat because her dad died in an underground mine explosion. I find her strong because she takes responsibility for hunting the food for supper and making sure her family has all their needs.

I grew up with a very complicated family; both of my parents were married once before they married each other. From my dad’s first marriage he had two daughters, Sara and Jill. From my mom’s first marriage she had a son and a daughter, Adam and Jenni. I am the only child from both of my parents together.
I was too young to remember exact details of certain events, but I could always remember being really close to my big sister. We are two years apart and she is my best friend. Growing up she was the only person that was consistantly in my life so she was literally the only person I would talk to. Twenty years later I am a lot more outspoken and open with others but my big sister is still the first and sometimes the only person I will turn to when I am going through something in my life. Over the years I have began to be the same way with the rest of my family, especially my mother.
