Recalling an Experience Playing little league baseball taught me a great deal about dealing with situations in the real world. Before playing baseball, I had an immense fear of failure. I would do everything in my power to avoid answering questions in class, giving presentations, etc. I would become a nervous wreck over simply being called on to read a couple sentences out loud, in panic that I would mess up and be mocked for doing so. It wasn't until my dad finally made the decision to push me out of my comfort zone and make me try out for little league that this childhood fear of failure was finally forced to be faced.
