Because there is only a certain amount of treatment that a body can with stand. Her father starting thinking that he was a burden to his daughter so some of the treatment that he was taking he start refusing but his daughter would not give up on him. There are so many good things to say about Susan Wolf, but the best thing you can say about her is that she is a Angle sent from heaven just for her father. The story about her father death really touched me and after I read it the first time I had to read it again and then tell someone about it. In the beginning of the book, when Dave talks about when the family was once good, he calls his mom, “Mom”. He later on calls her “Mother” when she becomes abusive. He does this because he became distant from her when the abusive started. He didn’t feel safe referring to her as mom anymore because she wasn’t the nurturing mother that she once was. Before the abuse, Mother would’ve done anything for her family.
Growing up I remember my grandfather passing away at the young age of 60, although he did not pass from Alzheimer's disease, he did battle with a chronic illness that left him debilitated. He was the love of my grandmother’s life and to see him struggle everyday was very difficult for her. Reading this poem to her brought back extremely powerful memories that she thought she buried away many many years
The Hampsons didn’t know it then, but it’s where they would spend much of the next four years, a place they would ruefully come to call their home away from home. Crutcher’s family was on the way to the northeast where a job had opened up for his father (who was a pilot) but on the way they made a stop in his mothers home town, Cascade Idaho. Where John Jr. (Chris’ older brother) had been staying with his grandparents.

She sat and talked to her mom, dad, best friend and also her sister. This chapter gave me the first real comfort sense 7 years ago. It taught me that it is ok to cry, it is part of healing and that is what I did, I cried until tears wouldn’t form any more. It reminded me of the time I finally built the courage and told my dad about what had happened. He gasped and looks at me with such a stunned face.
Because Alexie's parents had to work hard to make ends meet, they didn't have time to educate him. Apparently, he has lacked of parental support, but Alexie still has striven to succeed, to save his own life by teaching himself how to read the book instead of refusing to fail in life. This made him becoming a famous writer and realized reading and writing is his passion. First of all, lacking of parental support in education is the biggest problem that Alexie faced when he was growing up. It impacted so much in his life.
