Legal Drinking Age Issue In the United States there have been many deaths due to alcohol. If it were not for the lack of education on alcohol abuse, many of the fatal accidents could be prevented. The U. S's biggest problem is Americas underage drinking. In our community's we see many young teenagers that begin to drink alcohol at an age as early as 10 years old. They want to experience it without knowing the health risk factors that are associated with alcohol. There are many problems occurring because of alcohol abuse. In America the misuse of alcohol causes many teenagers to experience alcohol poisoning, and alcohol addiction. As a result, an estimated 1,071 lives were saved in the year 1987 alone. Ever since that act was put into commission there has been a decreased number of DWI (driving under the influence). Though there is study showing how many lives were saved by increasing the drinking age to 21, there are some people who argue that the drinking age should be lowered back to 18. These people argue that if a person is able to vote, be drafted to fight in a war, or drive a car they should be able to consume alcohol. People just don’t seem to realize that they just aren’t looking at the big picture and seeing how much the 21-year-old drinking age has improved the number of accident fatality's and deaths related to alcohol abuse or poisoning. In many countries they have a low age limit or no limit at all for drinking alcohol. In the United States the drinking law is set to the age twenty one. Many young Americans are caught drinking under the age everyday. At the age of eighteen you are supposed to be considered an adult, you can go to war and die for your country, you can vote, you can buy cigarettes, but you can't buy alcohol. Also, lowering the drinking age will help teens learn responsibilities about drinking and the affects it can cause. Finally, they should make for teens to consume alcohol because they are doing it
