How JROTC Builds Character and Leadership JROTC is a program that builds character and leadership within students. It teaches me how to lead and corporate with others. Not only does it help to build self-esteem, but it also informs me about diet and physical fitness to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Cooperation and leadership are important skills that I must learn to succeed in life. Cooperating with others means being able to work with others.
Each day is started by an appropriate warm up and finished with a warm down. The warm up is to prepare the body for training; enabling the athlete to perform at their optimal performance. The benefits of a warm up include increasing blood flow to the heart and muscles, increase in heart rate, increase in muscle elasticity and it prevents injuries. A warm down is an essential part of any fitness program. Following a training session a good warm down assists the speed of recovery by helping to remove lactic acid, preventing injuries and reducing muscle soreness.
Transcendental Meditation is most effective in reducing apprehension, improving mental health, increasing self awareness, and ridding the abuse of cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. Transcendental Meditation in clinical analysis proves that meditation can increase control of involuntary functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature, and brain waves (Skye). Scientists believe that meditation for long-term results reduces the quantity of stress hormones, and as a result reduces cholesterol and blood pressure (Wiss 2000). A study
The most common and used technique is deep breathing, this is an action that we’ve been taught to do since a very young age and is the foundation to the other techniques. Breathing is vital to relaxation and learning the art is essential to attaining that goal. ▪ Key learning point from the unit about Relaxation Techniques 1: Breathing, Meditation, and Mental Imagery The key to reaching that peaceful space is finding out which application of meditation works for you and sticking with it. Allotting time and commitment to a physical exercise program and relaxation is essential your total health. Basics in meditation includes: finding a space in which you feel peaceful and undisturbed, start with the breathing, stretch first and feel your body part.
For example, clients being able to focus on how deep their breaths are becoming can further aid the relaxation process. Clients become increasingly aware of their breathing rate, which slows down significantly as they become more and more relaxed. Furthermore, the hypnotist’s voice is vital as it can produce a trance state. The voice ideally should be soothing and monotone so that the client doesn’t focus on your voice but what we are trying to achieve. Similarly, the environment that your client is in is paramount to their relaxation process requiring a quiet room with no distractions is ideal.

As an ethical therapist I would offer a free initial consultation because it would show my commitment to the client through me devoting my time to them, to talk and get to know them, hopefully I will be able to build confidence and show the client that I am a competent therapist, all of this should start to build a relationship and rapport with the client, also the initial consultation gives both the client and the therapist a chance to decide whether you can work together. Having self-care strategies might differ from one person to another as it might involve other forms of self-care. For example, taking long walks to clear the mind and refresh, taking up a new painting class, which are ways to release everyday stressors. According to “Mayo Clinic” (2015), “Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that can benefit both your emotional well- being, and your overall health.” Self- care is important for someone to have especially in this field because without it there can be consequences such as chronic stress which can also cause burnout. The importance of self-care is that it can benefit everyone, and in this field of human service it benefit the client(s) as well. Human service professionals come in contact with clients that are going through difficult situations that either involve marriage problems, anxiety, unemployment, addiction, diseases.
The scientific proof of the benefits of massage is far-reaching. Benefits ranging from treating the stress and anxiety some feel in everyday life, to the more complex, such as treating disease and alleviating the pain of acute and chronic injury. Massage can be used as preventative medicine, and not just luxurious pampering. Massage not only feels good, but it can greatly alleviate if not totally cure what ails you. Unfortunately massage is still thought of by many as an alternative type of medical treatment, and some still believe that it is a non-necessity, and pampering activity rather than one that provides magnificent benefits for the body.
