Keep Hope Alive “..Problems are real, and you can’t turn off real life. So I won’t try. Instead, I’ll give you a set of tools to help you deal with real life.” A life of a teenager today is far more complicated than just the old times of playing in the park. Growing up in a world full of unknown challenges and difficult choice making, life can either be heaven or hell for a teen. Sean Covey claims that the overall purpose of the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, was to keep hope alive even in the toughest of times for the struggling teenagers. He sets the important 7 habits additionally with his purpose by conjoining many methods of development. He successfully contributed stories from other teens, provided a step-by-step guide, effectively used quotes and poems, explained definitions of terms mentioned and delivering it with an influential yet consistent tone. In doing so, Covey was able to successfully write an inspiring and noteworthy self improvement guide book. Anecdotes and actual stories from real people are elements that support and convince readers of the writer’s claim. That’s exactly what Covey had done. With the purpose of giving hope to others, he contributes a short story or letter written by teens from all over the world. Giving the readers an actual story that occurred to others can make them agree that it can happen in life and the habit being explained can help. For example, Covey’s method to renew oneself was one of the factors to share ideas of hope. Along with it was a story about a guy who’s hiding spot is an auditorium or his basement to relax or renew themselves and even noted of how it had helped them. People who can relate to stories often agree with what is being proven. They might not be solid facts or statistics but the real stories gave the book a more effective way of relating and connecting with the teens. Though,
