I see both Mary and August as the back bone of the house hold everyone goes to August when lost or upset and everyone listens to her. But Mary also hold a special place in everyone in the house even august and they all look to her. “On leaving the old nest, the swarm normally flies only a few meters and settles. Scout bees look for a suitable place to start the new colony. Eventfully, one location wins favor and the whole swarm takes to air.” This epigraph seems to be relating to Lilly leaving home and fleeing from T.Ray. And when she Finds August she and Rosaleen love it there settle in and make it their home. “Honeybees depend not only on physical with the colony, but also require social companionship and support. Isolate a honey bee from her sister and she will soon die” This strongly relates to April and May. May feels the pain and suffering of everyone’s problems and carries them around on her shoulders ever since she lost her sister to a suicide death. May later on takes her own life just like her twin sister. This shows that some people depend on each other and really need one another in order to survive in an emotional. Journal 2: The issue that seemed to stick out to me was experienced by the protagonist In the Secret Life of Bees is that Lily must learn about her dead mother in order to understand her own life. In this novel, Lily must overcome the forcing demands of her father, T. Ray a seemed to be heartless man who blames Lily for her mother’s death. So to
