Jesus' apostles although widely diverse, were able to work together and spread the Word of God. Each apostle came from various regions, occupations, ethnic groups, and even social classes. All of the diversity could have easily caused numerous disputes but the apostles put this aside and focused on Jesus. The power of Jesus' teachings could have also caused the Apostles to forget about their differences but more about their commonalities. The teachings about love and tolerance caused the apostles to grow closer to each other as friends. Working with friends also made it easier to achieve their goal because it could have allowed them to comfortably discuss different actions. The Apostles also realized that in order to successfully do as Jesus had asked, they needed to work collectively in order to get the biggest effect. Working as a team would allow them to travel to different regions and spread the news. That way also if one of the apostles became a martyr, there would still be others far away to continue teaching. God could have also had a play in unifying them to help his only son spread his work. God may have realized that humans can easily be “side-tracked” and that they needed help to focus on the great task at hand. God could have also performed miracles to protect the apostles and by leading them in the right direction. The very diverse apostles forgetting about their differences to help Jesus can teach us many things. Through their actions, we can learn to love others and be more accepting. The apostles also showed us that working with others to achieve the same goal can make things easier. It also gives us other people to relate to in times of trouble. The apostles also taught us that people of different beliefs can also help us complete our own tasks and that we should be more open minded.
