I Sunbathing good for you? In this case study I have chosen to look at the effects of sunbathing on the skin. I will look at scientific evidence studies relating to this effect. Read and analyse the pros and cons for skin exposure. Exposure times and their effects on the skin. What is a safe exposure period? The health implecations risks, and benefits. I will collate all this information and sight references to support these explanations along the way. Use visual data to demonstrate understanding of scientific facts from reliable sources. Cast personal opinion on both aspects for and against arguments. Why do people sunbath? It is a well known documented fact that people like to sunbathe. They bask in the rays to potentially produce a tan for cosmetic, or purely enjoyment of that long awaited warm summer sun after a long winter season, and the production of that feel good factor. (It is apparent that the suns rays may stimulate chemicals in the blood to be released which give a natural high. It is an ionizing radiation which is constantly emitted from the sun. It is one of the three catagories of rays. There are UVA, UVB, UVC. Only UVA, and UVB reach the Earth. The other is filtered out by the Earths atmosphere in the ozone layer. UVB is considered the tanning ray. It is only strongest in the northern hemisphere summer months, or when parts of the Earth orbits closest to the sun.
