Informal Letter to my Host Family Dear Jacobson family, My name is Pooja, and I will be staying with you for the next few months. I am writing this letter with the purpose of introducing myself, and also because I wish to thank you for kindly offering to be my host family during my stay in South Korea. Without you, this whole experience would never have been possible, and for I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am sixteen years old (I’ll turn seventeen next month) and currently studying in a Swedish high school, but don’t let that fact fool you; I am in fact neither blond nor blue-eyed. My parents were born in India and immigrated to Sweden in their early twenties. My siblings and I were however born in Sweden. In total, my family consists of 7 people: my parents, who by the way are the cutest people you’ll possibly ever meet, and three older sisters and an older brother. The two eldest sisters have already gotten married and presently have two children each. My older brother is studying computer-science at “Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan”. I believe the school is quite famous here in Sweden, so you might have heard of it? My sister is eighteen and attends the same high school as I do, but we try to avoid each other at all costs, even though we’re related by blood (unfortunately). Consorting in public can only result in disaster and personally, I have a reputation to uphold. (Kidding) Thus, I am the youngest in my family, or, as they enjoy calling me: ‘fresh meat’. In roughly about three years, I’ll have to decide what kind of profession I want to specialize in and presently, I haven’t got a clue what I want to become – it’s partially the reason why I wish to spend almost a year with you guys in Korea.
