Lily also lives with her father and she says in the book that it never felt right to call him dad so she just settled on T. Ray. T. Ray is abusive and convinces Lily that her mother’s death is all her fault by telling her that she picked up the gun and it went off in her hands and killed her mother and that her mother didn’t care about her at all and left her. The Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of British school boys who become stranded on an island after a plane crash. They live in paradise until human nature takes over and democracy fails which makes many of the boys turn savage and fight amongst each other. Golding uses literary elements to show “It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, which lures him to evil ways.” The first literary device that proves this quote true is motif. Jack and his hunters became obsessed with the act of killing the pig because they were obsessed with the act of savagery and brutality. They weren’t just killing for the survival and/or by the fact that they felt threatened by the pig.
People have lost sight of the true value that education holds and do not realize how easy it is to make a difference. Michael Moore probably views political leaders in America as the biggest idiots of all. Two senators, Joe Lieberman and Herbert Kohl were blaming MTV’s “Jackass” for, “the massive failure of American education” (pg. 124 Moore). The senators and other politicians believe that the reason for Americans stupidity and failures in schools is because of the shows and influences like Jackass.
Zell Miller purposely pointed out flaws in Senator Kerry’s actions to exemplify to the audience why he would not feel his family would be safe and protected under Kerry’s rule. Throughout the rest of his speech, Miller projected statements such as, “John Kerry has been more wrong, more weak and more wobbly than any other national figure” and “From John Kerry, [terrorists] get a ‘yes-no-maybe’ bowl of mush that can only encourage our enemies and confuse our friends” (Miller). Phrases such as these are discouraging to both parties. Even the Democrats, strong supporters of John Kerry, may have thought twice about their vote when forced to listen to such facts. After this speech,
Some men just suddenly jumped off the window and others just ran out of the mansion screaming. This had made Penelope sad and felt like giving up but her mother told her and made her understand that she doesn’t have to worry because her piggy appearance was not hers, it was her great grandfather’s nose and ears. A man named Vanderman, one of the man who took flight at first sight teamed up with Lemon(a tabloid reporter who spent his life stalking Wilhern family and had seen Penelope when she was a baby) to reveal and prove to everyone that they are not crazy and

Armed with this knowledge, the trusted broadcast journalist decided to air grim editorial detailing his own impressions of the war in Vietnam" (pg 120, 121) When he did this editorial his understanding of the war got the public to feel they were being lied to because they had believed we were winning. Even President Richard Nixon believed that the television was something harmful to Americans. In 1971, Nixon even stated that "aside from the communists, our worse enemy seems to be the press." With this understand we

They lock him in the chicken coop and present him as an amusement to the community charging fee to see him which bring them a lot of money. The society doubts about angel’s origin and tries to answer their questions, “the most merciful threw stones at him, trying to get him to rise so they could see him standing. The only time they succeeded in arousing him was when they burned his side with an iron for branding steers, for he had been motionless for so many hours that they thought he was dead”(554). Then there is a new amusement appears in the town a woman who was changed into the spider for “disobeying her parents”.
Being a young man away from home cooked meals and that lovely warm cuddly sensation that you feel when your mum says goodnight to you was tough enough (Pause) ; let alone the fighting and killing of those that had become your best friends, (pause) your brothers. Well you imagine this. (Pause) One day you’re helping get your dying mate into a Huey, while the others are calling cover fire. Then a month later you’re in some public services office somewhere being told by some Vietnamese woman, who I could barely understand for that matter, that you can’t wear your boots inside as it’s classified as unclean. (Sarcastically) Yeah and she was telling me about unclean.
187 The fact that this man, a man of integrity and heart died because he didn’t fallow America’s way of business is distressing. This man’s whole goal was to help the people in need in his land, and America hated that. Because he refused to bow down to America our presidents thought he was a liability and he lost his life. How can we as Americans not feel like we are the world’s whole issue? We are the reason our world is crashing right before our eyes.
