Personal navigation devices were first developed for military use in the 1980s. There are a number of reasons that personal navigation devices have become so popular. First of all rather than needing a separate map for each state, city, country, etc… that you are visiting you need only the one device. If you are planning a trip across multiple states you would either need several foldable paper maps or a road atlas. Road atlases were either small and, therefore, hard to read or large, bulky, and not easily stored.

This paper has made extensive use of touch gestures to identify the user’s request; While this approach fulfills some of the basic functionalities as mentioned above, it fails to provide facilities such as email management, web searches and other smartphone features. Rahul Anwani et al have developed an android application, VMAIL, which enables the visually impaired to send and receive E-Mails. It uses android’s text to speech and voice recognizer and serves the purpose of sending and recieving E-Mails. In this paper we have proposed an approach which pro- vides an efficient way for the visually impaired to use the smartphones productively.Rest of the paper is organized as follows.
