Lisa Toslin CJHS300-1501A-01: Human Service Practice in the Criminal Justice Setting Phase 3 Individual Project January 26, 2015 In the case of Cindy Bichman, age 38, homeless, and mentally ill, she has been assigned to the pretrial diversion program after her arrest for stealing bread from a convenient store. I have been assigned to identify 2 core values of both the psychiatry profession and the social work profession for Ms. Bichman. In the psychiatry profession I have chosen the following core values that I feel will help Ms. Bichman. According to the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association I feel the best two core values are as follows: * Psychiatric rehabilitation practices strive to help individuals improve the quality of all aspects of their lives; including social, occupational, educational, residential, intellectual, spiritual and financial. (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, 2015) I feel this value is a broad range value. It covers a lot of aspects that I feel Ms. Bichman needs to improve her situation. * Psychiatric rehabilitation services emphasize evidence‐based, promising, and emerging best practices that produce outcomes congruent with personal recovery. Programs include structured program evaluation and quality improvement mechanisms that actively involve persons receiving services. (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, 2015) I feel this value will help Ms. Bichman in the fact that the programs she might be enrolled in will be structured and it keeps the persons personal recovery in mind. Now in the social work profession, they have a set of core values. These include service, social justice, dignity and worth of person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. (Lancaster, 2015) According to Lancaster I feel the best two core values in the social work profession are as follows: * Dignity
