Working in the Health and Social Care industry I think the most important thing is the service users and our health and social care workers and their happiness. The more I reflect and enhance my own knowledge the more effective the learning and training will be. We also have to take responsibility for our own behaviour on people that we manage and train and encourage them to show positive behaviour too. 1.2 – Analyse potential barriers to professional development There are a number of barriers within my role. Unit 4222-373 Support person-centred thinking and planning 1.1 “Person-centred thinking is a set of values, skills and tools used in person-centred planning and in the personalisation of services used by individuals who are supported by care services” (Wikipedia). It means that if appropriate, the service user should be involved and kept at the centre of any discussions, reviews or decision making about their care or their life. 1.2 There are definitely benefits using person-centred thinking when working with individuals. Ultimately, it makes the individual feel empowered, and have control over their life which can benefit that individual hugely, by improving self-esteem, giving them confidence amongst a host of other personal gains. It also means that the values and beliefs of that individual are always kept in mind and as the priority in making any sort of decision, which again respects what the individual wants or would like in their life.

It is particularly focused to address the needs of people engaged in the nursing of the elderly, those working in a residential care environment or domiciliary staff. It can also be beneficial for People working in the care sector who wish to develop their skills in the workplace and for career progression. This Positive Dementia Awareness course explains facts about dementia and shows students how they can combine key ingredients of people-centred care in order to improve the daily life of those with dementia. Unit 26, Task 3 Positive Working Practices Sabbah Shaheen In this assignment I will explain and discuss positive working practices with individuals with additional needs and evaluate working practices and their potential for breaking down barriers and improving the well being and life chances of individuals with additional needs. I interviewed a lady called Kerry Kaur who is a deputy manager for a domiciliary care. She spoke about how she promotes positive working practices through her work. The positive working practices are: * Equality and diversity: Being fair and impartial * Respect: A feeling of deep respect for someone or something obtained by their abilities, qualities or achievements * Dignity: Quality of being worthy of honour and respect * Person centred planning: It is a set of approaches considered to assist someone to plan their life and support. It is used as a life planning model to enable individuals with disabilities and improve their own independence * Appropriate care: Health care in which the expected clinical benefits of care to balance the expected negative effects to such a level that the treatment is necessary * Safeguarding: Protection from harm or damage * Promoting independence: Encouraging the person in your care to do as much as they can for themselves * Aids to communication: A communication aid that helps a person to communicate more effectively with those around them * Legislation and guidance: A law or a group of laws The questions that I asked to Kerry were: 1) How do you promote Equality and Diversity in your role?

Using the five qualities identified by Rogers include; relative advantage, compatibility, simplicity, trialability, and observable results. The new EHR will improve patient care and patient outcomes. With the implementation of this system nurses will be provided with classroom training, one-on-one training, and the assistance of super users.
